Tenere centre stand
Hi folks, my first thread so be kind. I have just purchased an 11-reg tenere which I love already. 1 issue tho...29" inside leg. Now I knew the bike was tall but thought id get the lowering dog bones and that would be that. Now im reading the side stand will be to upright and would have to be chopped. I don't fancy doing that. The lower seat....maybe. But my question is if I buy the centre stand (which I was planning to do anyway) does this get round the problem of the side stand? or does the lowering kits make the centre stand tight also? Many thanks Daz

Hi there,
FYI, I may have for sale a set of lowering bones complete with side stand already cut and welded ready to install ?? I may also have for sale a centre stand in good nick if you fancy ?? All depends if I get home over the weekend to pick it up ?? If you are interested I will PM you after the weekend once I got them ready for sale. Chris |

Just wondered if the side stand was still available? I've done a 20mm lower both ends too. The mainstand I fitted is a bit of a heave now but just manageable (without luggage fitted) The lowered side stand would help if available. Regards Mentira |

Hi Daz - welcome on board mate.
If you fit lowering links, the centre stand will still work, the only difference is the wheel/tyre will be further from the ground. However, there is a catch... What you will find is that lifting the bike onto the centre stand will be much harder than it would be with standard links. This is due to the rear wheel not sitting as close to the ground relative to the feet of the stand when at the shocks full extension, and you have to overcome that difference with brute force. (I've got 15mm raising links on mine and its conversely much easier than standard to pull onto the stand.) |

Hi, bought mine new in June and had it lowered...forget the centre stand...mine came with one fitted and after lowering it was virtually impossible to use. There are posters on here who will suggest it's all about technique, which is ******** I'm afraid..unless you're Geoff Capes it's simply unusable. Don't be afraid of cutting the side stand down.. I did mine with a hacksaw and took it to the local blacksmith who welded it for a tenner.....it's a very simple job. You should get it done ASAP before you're bike falls over.

lowered ten
My Tenere is lowered front and rear about 25mil , instead of cutting and welding the side stand I ground away metal from the fully down stop which allows the side stand to swing forward more. My centre stand is used for maintenance and I just run my rear wheel onto a 40mil board before lifting it on to the centre stand, easy and I am nearer to70 than 60 years old.
