The numbers are the most important bit, they form the generic paint code (to give to a paint supplier for a match), the letters are used by Yamaha (so give them to your lazy dealer!)

dave530 26-01-12 17:07

Nice one, i phoned and the body shop phoned yam uk, and were told that they couldnt get the paint code, body shop got excellent match though so werent to bothered in the end, but yam uk were a waste of grub!

Excuse my ignorance, but why are amber headlamp covers so popular in South Africa? Everyone seems to have one!

Dual 09-02-12 04:45

The amber makes you much more visible, and that can be a live saver
99 % of excuses after an accident, sorry, I didn't see you

RickM 09-02-12 15:12

I suppose it depends on your normal riding/driving environment. Given that London & the SE has become a wash with high viz LED fairy lights and yellow jackets (me included) there is no substitue for observation and forward planning. And we all know that if it could happen, it will.
Ride safe & prosper!

Great photos people. It's so good to see bits of the world through your eyes. Thanks.

Changing tyres

In preperation of the coming Eastern Europe Rally I dropped my second set of wheels + a fresh pair of Michelin Enduro Competion tyres to a local shop that will pair them with mousses:

http://www.mijnalbum.nl/GroteFoto-WT3LM8SF.jpg

... it's a true can-do-all-bike that little Tenere :icon_thumright:

HJ

Ni3ous 21-04-12 12:26

Nice way of packing those tires on each side.

Do I see corrosion stains on front forks, or it is only dirt?
You can do a quick repair with some newspaper protection around and black colour spray. Not the best but effective enough and nicer.

Good luck.

SingleMinded 21-04-12 12:40

Sure I could do that... how long will it hold ? The bike shows that I'm not that interested in appearance...

HJ

Ni3ous 21-04-12 12:51

Ok, I understand.
I also heve it as a working horse and gives me a lot of fun.
This one is from our last ride:

SingleMinded 21-04-12 13:03

Nice! I'll be doing that kind of riding in a few weeks too. This map shows roughly the route (not the exact off-road track I'll be following): http://maps.google.nl/maps/ms?msid=2...d7a3a656&msa=0

Anywhere in your neighborhood?

HJ

Ni3ous 22-04-12 21:56

Sorry, not even close.
I am from Slovenia and you are going throu Sloavakia.
But you are welcome on a spin any time.
Enjoy your trip and dont forget the pictures.

SingleMinded 23-04-12 18:48

Ai... Sorry for that: mixing up two countries ... Wars have been started over less... So please forgive me ...

JMN 04-05-12 10:49

I tried to get the "camo" look from the previous page but failed miserably. Gotta bring a proper camera instead of a phone with me next time.
