Playing in the sun

Popped out to the mountains with a mate - he brought a camera along and took some photos. I was practicing lifting the front wheel and sliding the tail out with counter steering (concentrating on keeping both feet on the pegs, not so easy:seasaw:) Here are the pics he took.

Great pics!

Though I have to state that your bike is way too clean.
You lot need to get dirty.

ostapbender 18-04-11 11:18

wow, awesome. Is there any trick to do the sliding with counterstearing or just practice a lot? When i try to do that i always cross the bike. A proposito, eso es cerca del aeropuerto no?

Countersteering (not an expert so welcome other comments here!)

two ways to initiate countersteering, when coming into the turn you can either;

1) Apply the rear brake to slide the tail out a bit and then pour on some power (half throttle)

2) Slip the clutch near the apex of the turn just like you would for a wheelie to break the tail out.

In both cases it is very important to weight the outside peg, if you don't, the bike will just low side.

Be very careful, you can high side the bike doing this and that would not be pretty. try it slow, in first gear only to start. If you want a hand, pm me and we'll go out together sometime.

Es en la pista de motocross.

ostapbender 18-04-11 12:45

Thanks. I'll try it out this semana santa.

I quite like this effect which is simply adding a adjustment layer, reduce hue and saturation then use the eraser to expose the coloured areas you want to see.

Thought i'd post some pictures here. This was earlier this year, and the K60's were brand new. Front tyre looks almost the same today, but the rear is half down after some 4000 km.
Had my seat refurbished to get rid of the stupid bump.

@Sysie: Maybe you should have driven without the side stand being down :o)

Wow..great place and great road! Where is this place?

This is my xt660z on my first ride off-road. A very easy off-road track on Italian Alps (Sestriere, near Torino): about 60km in off-road in a very beautiful place!

Fiddich 10-10-11 16:39

Ok, just for you guys over there: The temp was above freezing, it didn't snow and the sun did come out from behind the clouds now and again.:042:

jimmysimpson 10-10-11 21:19

That was a good day. Good tracks, scenery and weather. Bit windy on the top though. If we had a hot climate we widna have these colours. Everything wid be scorched. No thanks.

XTZ-Patrick 03-11-11 17:36

Replaced the 50w lightbulbs off the auxiliary lights today to LED's, now the lights and the gripheating can be on together with out draining the battery.

Gr. Patrick.

Stewie82 03-11-11 22:03

Wich model of auxiliary light do you have?
Do you notice some difference lighting than 50w?

SW-Motech, with the LED'S in the lights are more for show. The 50w are much brighter but they drained the battery more then once een running together with gps. Gripheater and lights did not work at all. In Holland yamaha had a Limited edition model with the touratech lights , Yamaha subscribed that the lights should be replaced by 25w bulbs to prevent problems.

Stewie82 04-11-11 11:28

Thank's, it's was my first thought.
I read more than one persone wich replace standard 55W bulbs with 35W to solve this problem.
Thank's again
