Your Tener pictures thread
Would be fun if we shared our Tener related pictures in one thread, and even better if they are combined with ride reports and stories from your adventures together with the bike. :) Personally I'm a lousy photographer and rarely manage to capture the great moments..
Here's one anyway taken with my cellphone: http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/4...ten2tb9.th.jpg This is the last known picture of my Tourance rear tire. It was 3 weeks after I had picked up the bike. Had toured around in the south of Sweden (and discovered some amazing roads!) until I had my 1000 km service and then began the 1300 km (~800 miles) trip back home. I bought the bike in Nssj in the south simply because when I had decided to buy one all was taken since Yamaha couldn't deliver enough bikes to Sweden. After a lot of phone calls I found this white beauty and decided to combine picking it up with some vacation. Swore an holy oath to do the trip without touching the highway and only travel on country roads and gravel. Sadly the panniers and stuff I had ordered hadn't arrived so I had to borrow some soft bags, but the fake exhausts proved to be very handy since I could tie the bags onto them without worrying about the heat. Anyway, the picture: It's taken just as I've passed the high coast bridge a couple of kilometers north of Sundsvall, and at that time the tire kept its shape with the help of 3(!) cans of tire repair foam. Kept on going for some 200 km until I realized I couldn't go on like that. Foam was leaking out around the rim and the tire could blow any second. Crashed at a friends place and waited for the repair shops to open Monday morning. With a new Scorpion and 250€ less in my pocket (it was a ripoff, but what could I do?) the rest of the trip went smooth. Was a good way to get to know the bike and I loved it every second. It's not a beast on the strip and it's sometimes a struggle to get past the road trains, but so what? It takes me everywhere anytime without hesitating, and I'm confident to take this thumper far away from civilization. It's rock solid. |
I just went to pick up my new white tenere, yes, another white one, how original...:054:
It was at the dealer one week early so I'm not complaining. Dealer installed the topcase and the engine bars, and forgot to bill the engine bars.:042: That makes for a very good deal. Because the bank was closed I could'nt get to my savings so I gave the dealer my ducati hypermotard to keep until I get to my money, that way, I can drive my new toy this weekend. September I will be doing a weeklong journey to the Tatra mountains in Slovakia, I'll keep you posted. http://i36.tinypic.com/rvlxrl.jpg |

Titbirds Tenere and mine Picture taken by Titbird yesterday |
Nice pic! Don't see that many Tenere's yet on the road and here are two! Hey guys, where do you both live in Belgium? I live in Oosterhout, just near the Belgian border. I often take a ride to Belgium, twisting the backroads near Poppel, Geel, Leopoldsburg and such places. Maybe we can meet and ride someday? Greetz, Hans.

Nice! And amazing, 4 out of 4 are white. :D I picked white since it reminded me of my very first bike, a Yamaha DT 125 LC -84 (I think) who had the same colors and decals.

@tony1960
Not so much luck with the weather in Austria:sad11: @Dallas, I live in Stabroek, not so far from bergen op zoom and cotthem lives in, well, cotthem!:120: @Molgan, my first bike was a yamaha DT50 |
Yeh, we can organise a white-Teneretrip. :laughing7:
By the way, Cotthem is a small "gehuchtje" near Zottegem At Tony1960 did you go via "ottostraad" to Austria? What whas your comfy-cruisspeed? |
@ cotthem
did 700 Km on the first day via highway and comfy speed for me was around 110 (gps speed 103) Feul : 4L/100 Km speed between 120 and 130 (5000 rpm) feul 6L/100 Km pain in the bud after 100 Km so we stopt every 1OO Km the seet is very bad for me tony |
Black is back! And it's by far the fastets colour... ;-)
Here's my baby. I didn't get my alu cases before my trip to the north of Norway, so some cheap soft bags had to do. But it worked ok. http://www.eurofoto.no/show_image_st...&dx=588&dy=443 |

Tene pic
Hoi and Hello!
Here is mine: http://www.hombacher.de/images/kl_Tene08.jpg An other whiter one. Next weekend we will ride a little bit to Spain for summer holidays. You can see the panniers, handguards and the alu motor plate. For our trip I added a PNA holder in the cockpit using the power connection under the plastic cover. Furthermore a roadbook holder is mounted. It looks more important! hombacher |

I tried but couldn't do it do you have a Photobucket account??? If not, create one, that is the easiest way. Upload the image to Photobucket (resize to about 600x450pixels) then copy the link and paste into the image link in your post. |

Went for a ride today to test the luggage through the small villages of the Belgian ardens, and discovered some beautiful places. |
So Belgium is not so boring?
|
When driving through the ardens I found the curve I missed in 2003 with my blackbird, and ended up in the field. :088:
Luckily then, the tree's were still very small. http://i35.tinypic.com/fe2xz9.jpg http://i38.tinypic.com/2ujhye0.jpg |
Offroad touring with a blackbird, that's pretty hardcore. :slywink:
Here's one I took after some hill climbing (really missed the TKC80 that arrives next week..), we were pretty alone in the slope this time of season: http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/5143/offpistlj0.jpg The tall Swedish women can be a problem going 2-up, 180+ cm tall on top of the already high passenger seat so I had to take it easy under the viaducts hehe: http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/2/pict20122tp5.jpg |
XTZ660 running in

This is a picture of my new Tenere. There was one left in a dealers in Edinburgh. I phoned on at 5pm one day to reserve it and rode it out the door the following day at 2pm. Fast service. Its a great bike and am enjoying running it in. The photo was taken beside the SAS Regiment founder David Stirling's memorial statue.
|
Ah, you have the faster colour black, I can see... ;-)

Didn't get my TKC80 in time for the offroad convention this weekend, but a friend had some used 140/80 Karoo and a MT21 for the front lying around. Had to take a little test run.. http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/167/alt3zf0.jpg And discovered an alternative route to work! :D http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/6290/alt1hk1.jpg First part is kind of wet, but that good since the bike needed a cleaning anyway. http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/1337/alt2zi0.jpg This part isn't very technical, but a peaceful place that puts me in a good mood. Ok, this isn't a quicker way compared to the boring tarmac, but it makes it fun going to work!:041: |
Nice pictures, the Z looks the business with those tyres.

Some pics of this weekend and some of the mods from Metal Mule, cheers steveD
The crash bars have been removed as they were the prototype ones and Paul from Metal Mule needed to take them back to make production jigs. |
Nice pics, Steve! What's the volume of the panniers, how many liters? They look rather small to me, just like the Yamaha originals. Anyway, Metal Mule did a great job, developing these parts for the Tenere! What are the prices of the parts and are they already for sale? Greetz, Hans.
|
Aah finally some pics. :) The tall wind shield looks perfect and glad they made one without tint. Gonna order one. And I don't agree about the panniers, compared to the Yamaha ones they look HUGE! :D
|
The tall windshield works perfectly and will allow effortless cruising at 80mph. Pannier frames are superb, quality wise and fit wise. The panniers fit perfectly and do not rattle or leak, they are 31 Litres and are certainly bigger than the Yam ones. PS they also protect the bike in a fall!. Radiator grille really looks the biz, bash plate looks very strong, link drops the bike sufficiently for me to get the balls of my feet firmly on the floor, which I am happy with. Just might drop the forks by 20mm as the headlight adjuster is now at its limit! The hugger is a bit flimsy because he has used the small screw that holds the clip for the reear brake pipe and it has stripped. I intend to tap it out to 6mm and see if that improves things. The small headlight protector does its job as well and will really stop crap getting onto the original lens. If anyone wants close up pics of any of the details please use this thread and detail your request. PS the crash bars look very good but were pre production items. He has promised to have some made when I next meet him for a MCN photoshoot (if that ever happens!)
|
....and a quick PS, the Yam panniers flex at the back as there is no support between them and they can pivot underneath the bike. The Metal Mule frame links behind the reg plate. I wonder how long the Yam ones will last as they are plastic and I expect would crack in a fall.

Where did you get the taller windscreen from? Yamaha?
|
No, the taller windscreen is from Metal Mule. The company has just iused my Tenere to develop the extras that are in the pics earlier in the thread. The quality is par none except for the hugger which still needs more work. They are making some crash bars as well which protect the water pump and fix to the studs that attach the tank to the frame. This point looks really strong and you will notice that they have cut holes about 30mm dia for the tube to go into. I expect to get the proper bars soon and will add pics. You will also notice that the pannier frames do not use the big hole in the rear subframe that Yamaha use, they use a fixing on the top of the subframe which is also used for a very useful rear carrier, which Yamaha do not even offer. Cheers SteveD

After a weekend on Salisbury Plain in Southern England, I have only three shots of my XTZ. Really enjoyed riding the bike on the shale trails.....:glasses1:
