With my Tenere in a Moroccan river adventure on the 8th of january 2010.

enduro374 14-01-10 10:15

Ouch - is it fixed now?

boniyam 14-01-10 12:16

not yet. Parts are ordered at Yamaha in cassablanca. Will take weeks.
Hope the price won't knock me out...

enduro374 14-01-10 12:47

Fingers crossed then..

Apart from the watery demise, the rest of the ride looked perfect Tenere going..

Don't forget to inspect your wheel bearings as well. Speaking from experience after submerged bearings then sit for a while - chances are they've had it..

Oooo that's no good, braking 2nd gear like that. That would be the first one I have seen do that.

So close, but still not there. Lack of time sux when everything is there, just have to bolt the stuff on and go out and play in the snow. Soon.. =)

Finally! Season -10 has commenced. Took the enduro studs for a test ride, and they were excellent on the ice and snow. Will be an awesome winter!

Tried them on the main road where the cars have kept the tarmac visible and the handling was spooky, but I didn't get these tires for commuting. Next week we will make a trip out to an island over the frozen sea outside Lule, pics will follow. =)

Was to excited to take any pics from the test ride, but this is the lady with the high heels on:

Locking the front is fine - just remember to let go off the lever quickly.

As for the studded tyres - very cool!

Nice spikes there MOLGAN, you could pick up your next meal while riding :081:

OK Guys I got to putting a power socket on my tenere, I wanted something separate from the wire behind the head light as that i want to keep purely for a the GPS. This power socket is aimed at running an LED night light for camping out or even recharging other gismo's while riding

Here is where i ran the wires starting from the battery, complete with mini blade fuse.
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...20socket/1.jpg

Arround the under the tank.
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...20socket/2.jpg

Through here.
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...20socket/3.jpg

Then up under the tank along this oil pipe, I did intend to shrink wrap the whole length of the 2 wires but didn't have enough shrinky, and couldn't be stuffed to go out and get more.
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...20socket/4.jpg

Then poked out here near the tripple clamps
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...20socket/5.jpg

Then zip tied along the head mout bracket
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...20socket/9.jpg

The socket and rocker switch, i wanted the abilty to isolate the power for what ever reasons i couldn't think of.
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...20socket/7.jpg

Took this piece out to carefully cut out the holes, a bit time consuming but ya gotta to get the sizes precise.
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...20socket/6.jpg

Wired up, but i later ran a wire to light up the little LED in the switch. it goes from the blade on the switch that has red shrinky on it - to the outer casing blade on the socket.
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...20socket/8.jpg

All done
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...0socket/10.jpg

When the LED lights up the power is on
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...0socket/11.jpg

cheers
Regie

Good pictures and wrte up !

I installed a Halfords DIN socket myself there last w-e.
I've not wired it up yet.

I had to glue the male plug together as the screw cap thread was damaged, but now it's watertight :)

the switch is an excellent idea. I shall add it to my list :)

I have used spade terminals that slip on/off so they can be removed and replaced at any time, and they are very secure.

Sunny, no wind, -10 Celsius, perfect weather for a Sunday drive.

http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/5105/dscn1903.jpg

Some reindeers kept me company out on the ice, have no idea what they were eating since the only thing that's under the snow is the frozen sea:

http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/3536/dscn1902v.jpg

Did some racing on the ice roads close to town, excuse the ugly back drop:

http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/5199/dscn1895.jpg

Met this pretty lady out on the ice:

http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/8797/dscn18632.jpg

Followed her to a cabin where I had coffee and a sandwich together with some other bikers:

http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/4845/dscn1905b.jpg

Finally the sun started to disappear and it was time to head back home:

http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/9877/dscn1885l.jpg

On the way home I assisted in rescuing a car that had ended up out in the snow for some reason:

A good day. =)

they were probably licking the salty ice. Salt helps keeping hydrated.

:notworthy[1]:

My only modification is the following:
I wired a relay triggered by the reg plate lights which feeds a 4 way fusebox.

This way I can add 2 more mods by just plugging them to the fusebox.

And not only the fusebox is only powered when the ignition is on, but the relay and each accessory has its own fuse.

Pictures:

The front switch and DIN socket (I use silicon to waterproof the cable connection (the white stuff))

view with the seat removed and the components untouched:

view of the details:
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...at_details.jpg

I used:

halfords 4 ways fusebox: here
halfords DIN plug and socket 16amp: here
halfords round rocker switch 10amp: here

lots of cables, connectors, cable ties too :)

steveD 07-02-10 21:08

Blimey Zou, have you got a spy cam at my place? That's exactly what I have done!!!!! I have taken out the next to useless toolkit and you will find that if you cut off the mounting lugs on the fuse box it fits neatly into the old toolkit space. Spot on mate, very durable, cheap and repairable.:icon_mrgreen:

Nice work there Zou, just don't let customs look under your seat as you venture into another country, they may think you have a bomb in there :laughing11:

They are some great pictures there Molgan. As we might be able to ride all year round here in OZ.... well have a look at that!! so you can also!! even though it maybe a road you've been down many times before, the snow would give it a different perspective, no doubt.

P.S. The female natives are a bit easy on the eye....... :tongue3:

It's taken a while for me to get round to this but here you are - my Tnr with the mods so far:

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/t...ed_1pignan.jpg

It now has Metal Mule links and a reshaped seat courtesy of Sellerie Concept here in France. They've got the lines and colours spot-on with the bike.

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/t...sized_seat.jpg

It also has a UFO front mudguard, Renthals and Acerbis brushguards, TKC80s, Touratech rack, bashplate and GPS mount (for my eTrex). I've taken the exhaust covers off as I don't like the look of them - planning to make some round equivalents at some point. I thought about MT-O3 covers but my local dealer told me they are extremely expensive! So another job for the Dremel. Another pic:

http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/t...ed_2pignan.jpg

I'm planning a trip to Morocco at some point but not sure when. Also a weekend on trails in the Camargue with another forum member. The local (French) bike mag is Moto Verte and there are some good ideas for trails so plan to have a go at some of those too.

If any forum members are ever heading to Sete (45 mins from my front door) for the ferry to Morocco feel free to PM me in advance and I can recommend local dealers for tyre changes or mechanical help if needed. I work away from home but if I'm around there's always the chance of a spare room (if we move the baby...) and some local red before you hit Africa.

Cheers,

Rich

zOU 08-02-10 19:34

the seat looks great !
I had a look at their website but they don't mention gel insert....

pity, that's what i would be looking for.

I'll make sure I arrange to meet you during one of me trip south I have relatives in the area (and I'm french too :p )

Richzrx12 08-02-10 20:21

Zou - no problem at all!

As for the seat, they have a great reputation and I'm sure they can do whatever it is you want. They do like punters to turn up with the bike and sit on it though, so that they can see how you are on the bike, and then cut it and let you try it before they start making the cover. They also like to see the bike and its colours in the flesh so they can get that right too.

the front mudguard is it the UFO supermoto type or their generic "MG" model?

zOU 08-02-10 20:28

Good to know.

i had 2 seat made from sellerie Moillo in the past, one for my VFR 750and one for my GSE500.
i was very happy with them, but I'm open to new ideas/suppliers :)

my parents had one made from http://www.aiglons.fr/ for their CB1100

Yours looks fantastic !

It's the supermoto fender, I don't have a reference but it's shorter and stubbier than the UFO 'cross fenders. Cheers!

Cheers! I'm really pleased with it. However, if I was going to do it again I would specify I wanted a leather that resists rain / bad weather. I didn't when they made this - it didn't occur to me they'd use softer leather than the original. They've given me advice on taking care of it and so on, which is great, but to be honest it's a bit prettier / show quality than an off-road bike needs.

That said, it hasn't been off-road as much as I'd like yet...

My Tenere

Hi Guys,

Here a pic of my bike. Has a few minor mods on it. Kappa extended screen, Kappa crash bars, Leo Vince pipes, GPS charger. I'm really loving this bike and can't wait for the weekends.

Hi there Buff SA.
Where did you get those crash bars made? Interesting to see you have them all the way to the top of tank.
Some close ups pics on that maybe?

Did you have to modify anything to get the yamaha bars and the kappa ones to fit? Or did they both just fit straight on.
