Hi there, I'm a project manager for a company that manufactures polyurethane and plastic componets.
The work is to much, guess the bucks are okay..hahaha |
I WAS a decorator but jacked in the stress to work in a factory. I now build diesel injectors for Daimler and Daf engines and hate every minute of it!!!

In the Army (Royal Engineers) for 12 years then I was a Civil Engineer for 5 years.
Now I am a cop in London, I work in intelligence but get out as often as possible. I have 2 hats. One is to deal with firearms intelligence and that often results in executing violent and armed entries into armed suspects addresses (it's not as sexy as it sounds - health and safety takes all the fun out of it) although most times we do not enter with guns. I am usually first through the door on entries without armed support, it's scary but fun (I never ask anyone to do something I won't do myself - besides, I did set it up). The paperwork is so vast when using police guns that its easier not to bother and on balance the risks are worth it. My other hat is to deal with the Turkish mafia on a local level. This part of my job is very interesting with serious drug importation, guns and extortion being the main issues. I love my job but having had some grim experiences I am ready to retire. (2 years time). |
When i left school i was a mechanic/panel beater, got made redundant after 2 years of training and somehow got into IT
i now work for a financial software house in London, been here for 8 years now, my offical title is Software support Manager but i tend to be a general dogsbody, project managing support work, consultanc, looking after the 16 guys and gals that apparently report to me and so on. Sometimes its fun, most of the time its borring, but the money is fantastic with very good job security and allows me to play as i want to when work and family commitments allow. |
builder turned IT nerd!
I'm a 'solution architect' for Fujitsu (working on the feted NHS programme) but I started out as a builder / chippy. Twenty or so years ago I sold all my power tools and went on a Computeach course. Started work as a computer operator for an electricity company and worked my way up. So now the pay is good, but the job is stressful, long hours and I have to travel a lot to some not very excting places (Slough, Leeds etc). I would never complain though....

I was a 3D Computer Aided Design trainer for Computervision, then worked in QA as a software tester , then swapped to development in 91 and haven't looked back. Now work for a company writing data Visualisation software to help the good guys catch the bad guys. CIA ,FBI, DEA, UK Police forces, Prison Service, Customs and Excise banks etc etc all use it :-)
Great job but difficult to leave at work as it's all in yer head. |
I am an Information Technology Prostitute. Or in laymens terms an IT Consultant whose main focus is Service Management. Yes just writing this is making me sleepy.
