            removing the standard grip

I recently purchased a pair of grip puppies to reduce the effect of vibs from the handle bar (numb hands after 50 miles or so- worse when I also have cold hands).
Unfortunately the over grips are too thick and makes usinf the levers a little clumsy and slow. So... I thought of removing the rubber grips and fitting the puppies straight on the bar. Can the standard rubber grips be removed (for use later maybe) without destroying them? |

And if yer have cash to burn.... ROX Anti vibe risers.. (on the XT it gives 2 sets of vibe rubbers) Is what I have on my bike... Filling the bars with sand is another trick that helps.. put corks in the ends to keep it there...

Not sure whether the grip puppies won't be to larger diameter to fit over just the bar? If you are going to remove the stock grips and want a foam alternative, why not consider fitting foam grips from the off?
I have Grip Puppies and they are brilliant. I know what you mean about the extra thickness, but they do compress a little over time. Also is you fit some cheap CNC span adjustable levers, the thickness becomes less of an issue. |

             what is "vibenators"?
I cannot insert cork in the handle bar as the inside has (welded in plpace I think) the nut for mounting the bar ends. would you know of a different bar end that could help? I have seen (chinese??) adjustable levers @ 26 but honestly I am not comfortable with taking a change as I hate things that don't fit as they are supposed to. interestingly OTR do adjustable levers but at around 120 each. maybe I soldier on a bit in case the puppies compress a little |

I'm with Pleiades on this...my grip puppies felt too chunky at first but soon settled down. ..I think they are brilliant, I have ditched the bar end weights and get no vibes at all. The short levers I ordered via the link on this forum are great too, fitted straight on and really strong. Steve

thanks guys for all your feedback
I see vibenators are bar ends. They look very interesting. Worth considering if they dampen out the vibes. I will get in touch with the lever guys to find out about price, availability and the lever length (important for me) |
