Vango tempest any good?
Thinking of buying the vango tempest 200 as I need to replace my old euro hike dome tent.
Just wondered if anyone else has one and are they any good. Thanks Last edited by Two wheeled Celt; 11-05-15 at 23:18. |

They are a good tent for the price (as most Vango stuff is).
I have used them for a number of years at work (taking school kids on field trips and DofE). The kids don't seem to be able to break them! Did have some Phad 3 tents and they didn't last 5 minutes in the hands of teenagers. What I would say is, give the 300 some serious thought. It isn't much heavier/bigger when packed (or expensive), but is a whole lot more roomy when pitched. Oh, I almost forgot... The porch area is next to useless if it's raining because of the slope and the way the entrance opens. With the entrance unzipped, the ground sheet and anything in there get wet. You need to use a tarp over the front to make it work. A tarp is a must anyway, so not really and issue.

I've had a 300 for quite a few years now and it's great. You do need a tarp though. See pics fron Wales 2015.

I bought the 200 for the Wales trip. It's my first tent so don't really have anything to compare it to, quality wise. It was 100% waterproof and easy to put up.
I'd have to second the suggestion to get the 300 though. If I had my time again I would. It was very cramped in there with my kit and luggage but possibly worse than that is that I was ever so slightly too tall for it (and you're taller than I am). I couldn't sit up inside and when lying flat my feet and head both touched. I'll definitely be buying a tarp for my next trip. At least then I can stick my feet out the end of the tent.

I have a vango soul 300. 55 new off eBay I was worried about heavy rain as it's only rated at 2000. It never leaked all weekend. That's pretty good in my book. It folds really small and only weighs 2.5 kg

[QUOTE=Two wheeled Celt;210266]Thinking of buying the vango tempest 200 as I need to replace my old euro hike dome tent.
Just wondered if anyone else has one and are they any good. Hi i bought the vango Halo 300 for the wales meet it was great and totaly waterproof, it was big enough for me to kneel up in and roomy enough to be able to change into dry clothes with no problems. 4.25 kg so not particularly heavey.

They also sell heavy duty tarps for tent bases for around 10 but they are quite weighty probably around 1kg.
