Well we couldn't have been very far apart (assuming you were there on Sat) I was in Llangollen at about 10:30 Sat morning, had a quick cuppa and de-frosted before heading for Bala.

Mudcrawler, hello and welcome, you came in and dived right in, that's good! But if you go by the Newbie reception lounge and introduce yourself to the "mob" than you might not get me to think... huh? Mudcrawler who? and I am sure a few other would be wondering where did you come from.

Thanks :dalek:

Australia's first tenere

G'day all you lucky tenere owners over there in europe, i'm from Australia and here's a pic of my new tenere on my bike trailer..............I got the new stealth model............un-detectable by radar (speed radar that is)....lol

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...8/100_0559.jpg

In all seriousness we should have them here in OZ about mid year so the rumors say. I will certainly post some pics once i really get one.

Some bloke from over Europe is over here on his Khakis colored tenere touring arround as a mate of mine saw it and the europeen plates just the other day.

Peatbog 10-02-09 22:25

Hey Timpo! Great pics - thats quite a bit of snow, nice one. :crybaby: we haven't got any.....

Gary117 11-02-09 21:28

Hi Timpo where abouts were the pictures taken. Looks great fun,how do i join in ?

josephau 11-02-09 22:26

Great pics, Timpo! Curious, how does it feel riding in the snow vs. mud vs. gravels? Do you think about the ground may be icy etc.? Are those TKC80 tires? If so, how do they handle in the snow? I mean any special tip for riding in the snow would be greatly appreciated.

This day was out into the depths of Radnorshire/Herefordshire Borders.
We organise ride-outs va the www.advrider.com site, in the Europe section.
There is a really keen bunch of folks in the UK now, some of them organise weekends and rallies which you can put your name down to attend. The advantage of this type of meeting is that you get to see how a wide range of bike performs when the going gets un-tarmaced, if you know what I mean.
Most of the folks are also keen memebrs of the TRF, www.trf.org , ensuring we are using legal trails.

The pictures are of a day organised by Garry H and Louisdut.

The tyres are Pirelli MT21, 90/90x21 front, 130/90x17 rear.
As for riding on snow, well a lot of it is luck, as unlike sand, the snow conpresses and exposes you to what is lurking underneath, ie, bogs, ditches, ruts and rocks.
Tyre pressures need to be lowered, I ended up being 1bar, so 15psig. I do have rimlocks fitted to my Tenere to prevent tyre creep.
Riding involves obtaining momentum and keeping it, so some real commitment is required. Try not to induce wheels spin but feather the revs and clutch until your moving at a suitable rate. Then try to maintain the speed.
After some practice you'll soon have the tail steering for you, it is great fun.
But as I have mentioned, the lurking hazards can soon have you off, hence I required an indicator and mirror on Monday morning. Unfortunately, Pumpy, our female german off-road goddess fell heavily after the bike plunged into a hidden bog, and causing a broken upper arm.

Take a look through the thread on advrider.com, here:- Snow business.

Maybe we can sort a trail riding weekend out this summer sometime for the braver of the XT660.com riders.

Timpo.

Gary117 12-02-09 23:26

Thanks for the info Timpo,I will have a look on the advrider.com site. If we could sort a trail ride out this summer for all the north west lads and who ever else would like to join in that would be great.

Chekamus 13-02-09 22:38

Hi timpo
I have been trying to register on the adv rider site recently but it keeps saying registration disabled any ideas why?

Timpo 13-02-09 23:01

I believe the advrider site has some IT issues wth new registrations at present.

I can definately organise a trail ride for the braver of the Tenere owners....
It will be tailored to the Tenere's capability, with some camping and beer involved.

As soon as I get some freetime, I will start to sort a weekend on the North Wales trails for the Teneres...........

Timpo.

Hi Gary117, what's that tailbag you have? Brand and model, is it secure, and are you happy with it? And if you don't mind, how much it costs? Thnx in advance.
