I fitted the PCIII and the DNA Stage 1&2 filters on my XTX! Kev sent me a map (cheers mate) and now the bike is as it should be!!
FUN LIKE THE :devil[1]:!! |
This is what I did
Reinstalled the DNA stage 1+2, finally removed the snorkel and adjusted my co2 + kev mod. Best performance was found at -5C, which was a bit surprising, -7C was smoother, but with less kick.
I had the biggest grin when doing the twisty backroads at EXACTLY THE SPEED LIMIT. Not. |

Cush drive rubber
This week I change cush drive rubbers. I didn't want to do cush drive mod because mine are worn too much. Now I will wait 3000 miles and then do the mod.
|
I fitted a Karoo to the rear. 140/80X17. A wee bit higher obviously and plenty room.

I couldn't wait to get a bit grip on dry tarmac let alone wet. lol.
|
I'll do 10 hours on it Sunday ( today ) so will have it assesed by then and half worn.
|
Karoo tested. Tarmac dry, good feel in bends and keeps stable on cats eyes and white lines so able to use the edge with confidence. Under braking on dry tar is normal knobbly crapness. Wet tar not encountered yet. Off road, muddy - grip is not to bad and quite acceptible, dry rocky - not bad if a wee bit rolly but predictable, dry graded - good stability, river beds - good stability. My comparison would be with the Mitas CO2 and TKC 80. Mitas is superior in mud but that's it, everything else it's lethal. The TKC has stability everywhere but mud in which it's useless. Now it's down to longevity which only time will tell.
|
Another boost with the Karoo is that by fitting a 140/80x17, the speedo reads 2mph more accurate than before obviously because the rolling radius is bigger i,e, the tyre is higher which is preferable in bogs too. lol.
|
My god are you saying that you have finally found your Holy Grail of tyres?????:emoticons:

I installed adjustable brake lever and PCIII
Wow. Just wow.
I can barely recognize the bike now. It was -05 or -06 XTX (Don't know which, registered in 2007), now I don't know what it is, but it's amazing. I had DNA stage 1+2 and a Kev mod, that did give a nice boost to the power department, but the fueling stayed snatchy, even though better than without those mods. Now the bike sounds better, but surprisingly quieter, the power delivery is very linear and smooth and there is even more grunt. Surging did not disappear completely, but even that smoothed out to a manageable level. PCIII was an excellent purchase and I really would recommend anyone suffering from the jerky fueling to at least try it out. It's worth the money. About the brake lever, don't know which brand, since I bought it second hand, but it's the short type, nicely machined and way more sturdy than the original one. I had a bit of a problem installing it, since it was a bit thicker at the part that pushes the main cylinder, so I had to readjust things a bit on the bars. I don't have short fingers, but the new lever did help the braking quite a lot. Also a very recommended mod. This was a good day in my motorcycling career :) |
Abusy couple of days:
Received the MTC single round can in the post so stripped the back end of the bike and fitted the new one. Turned the fuel mod up to 6.30 to take care of the mixture and stood back and had a look. Already had some photos, kindly sent by GULG of his tool tube mount, so had a look at that. I quite like the look of the 'bare' side of the bike now tho, but the standard rear light/number plate holder did look odd so made up a pattern to smooth things out. Cut some s/s plate and painted it black - this is how it looks now - better I think anyway. http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...1/PICT0161.jpg http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...1/PICT0160.jpg With the old exhaust out it left the foil heat protection exposded, so cut some more plate and fitted to the underside of the bike. Next job was blocking the AIS pipe to stop the popping - Jeez on the tenere, what a fiddle just getting to the cilp that attaches it to the airbox - maybe I'm just a bit like a bull in a china shop tho. Considered plugging the hole inside the airbox but had nothing handy to do this at the time. Finally got the job done as per Kevs method and greased the airbox joint - result - no popping. http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...1/PICT0162.jpg http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...PICT0157-1.jpg Back to the exhaust itself - yep a quality product at a bl00dy good price - but I like others think that it could fit the lines of the bike a little better - maybe a reshaped link pipe - my only real problem at the moment is...............too LOUD. |

Out of the shed & onto the Bike
Well, after a month of ownership, i thought it was about time i personalised my Tenere.
Sheepskin, stickers & rack : http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/...0Z/660Z010.jpg Roadbook holder & power socket : http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/...0Z/660Z006.jpg High mudguard, LED lights, handguards & headlight protector: http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/...0Z/660Z003.jpg Just saving up for the centre stand, bash plate & bars for my Gobi boxes..... |
My sheepskin is worth every penny... ;)
If I am doing more than 1 days riding I'll install the sheepskin. One of the best Mods... Machine washable too! |
Happiness is.....

this thread will never die... lol:hb:
two new tyres and a rear disc fitted.. ;0) |
tool tube
Decided that I would fit a tool tube. Made up a bracket that would fit the adventurespec type of tube.

Today was nothing exciting,
Fitted k+n airfilter, the old one was filthy Changed the oil and filter, again filter in disgusting state, Dropped in a ngk iridium plug, Raised co by a further 2, so total raised is now 12 Has reduced surging a little more, almost completely gone I await my 10k resistor get that in tomorrow hopefully |
Aye that's cool
|
Last week I installed the Kev O2 Eliminator Mod. Having ridden about 250kms I can tell that it truly works!! The surging has been eliminated and the bike feels more rideable, especially in corners when you have the throttle stable! :coolsmiley:Now it is so smooth with low speeds and I can enjoy more my ride! This is one of the best mods I fitted to my bike!:thumbsup[1]:
|
Fitted Pivot Pegz. Took all of 4 minutes per side, whew ! Need floats in all this rain tho.
|
20 000 km maintenance
I had already done the really easy stuff, so the shop only did the valve clearings and a few checks, just to keep the maintenance book complete. Surprisingly only after 20 000 km the exhaust clearance needed to be adjusted.
Anyway, bike's even better now. |
Fitted pivot pegz. Took me more than 4 minutes per side, more like 10 mins per side. Havent had a chance to ride with them but just sitting on the bike pretending to ride, they feel amazing.

Rounded my first bolt off yesterday. ;)
Exhaust header bolt. The 2 outside ones looseded no problem. The two inside ones were full of shyt and rust. When I'd cleaned them out and tried to turn one with allen key, it rounded off nicely. Wanted to remove pipes to paint black. That'll be another post now. ;) Also Kev's throttle grip mod. After failing the exhaust mod but still in the fiddling mood. Only cut a depth of 1mm, being cautious. No drill bit small enough at home, so I used a junior hacksaw, removing and snapping the blade to reach the last bit (the little nobbles on the blade got in the way). Using more like a file as the blade is quite thin. Maybe a fullsize hacksaw blade would've been easier.? An unexpected change for the better. (Boring) but I also upped Co setting by two more. Has been stalling more recently on deceleration, this seems to have fixed that. :) |
I finally fitted XENON Headlight that had bought months ago...
took me half an hour to fit, and it is bright as Hell!!! Pictures speak for themselves. Mind that it is still daylight in the pics. Just imagine how bright it can be at night...:hae18: http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...r/CIMG3893.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...r/CIMG3895.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...r/CIMG3894.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...r/CIMG3980.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...CIMG3977-1.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...CIMG3978-1.jpg it does get hot.... but greek members LukeXT and Psifio have been using it for a year with no problems.:yahoo: |
jesus, thats enough to make cars infront move aside in itself!
|
how much did it cost fur the whole set up....I changed ma rear sprocket an new chain an moddedthe cush drive jist last nite,, ma bike rides like a new bike,, it feels so much more responsive,,jist goes tae show that what the cush drive does.....Ihad play in that,,ma well knackered chain an curved sprocket.....
I need something fur ma indicators, that have stopped working,,, the right rear one fur a wee while has been working here n there,, but today they all stopped,,even the hazards as well....what ye think is wrong........ nae silly remarks.???? |

by bike used to have a little problem with the rear indicators. It was all due to a bad contact. I mean, unscrew the glass of the indicator (one little philips screw), take the reflector apart and see the little copper plugs of the two wires that connect to the bulb. Press them tighter with pliers and put the whole thing back. I hope thi helps. George |
Got my hands dirty:
Fitted new front break disk and -pads, new front wheel bearings, oil and filter change. Next to come: swing arm bearings (shot), bearings in back wheel. 80.000 km:smile[2]: |

A couple of weeks back i fitted mt21s. Great for riding trails :-D
This week I fitted HepcoBecker pannier frames and engine bars. Easy to fit. Only problem was i had to modify my B&B bashplate to fit the engine bars. Also i had to remove the ventura rack as it is not compatible with the pannier frames. Hopefully a B&B rear rack will fit. Slowly getting adventure ready :-D |
|
Fitted auxiliary driving LED lights (20W/1800lm+20W/1800lm).
