Looking good mate

maxwell123455 10-05-08 23:41

Ohh i think i need to visit the little boys room:toothy2:

dazzerrtw 11-05-08 00:06

bought a second hand seat and took it to seat works,to make a seat that will be better for my pillion on our touring holiday in June.

Fingers crossed it should be ready in 2 week's time.

Will post a photo then .

Denny 11-05-08 00:49

Look forward to seeing that dazzer. I faced the same dilema last year and almost did what you have with the saddle, but opted for Airhawk cushions instead, which worked out very well.

Hi Denny

we have a airhawk and they do work very well, the problem leigh as is with the seat angle ,when I brake she is sliding forward.
so I'm having the rear of the seat made higher.
I will post some pic's as soon as I get the seat back .

Well flew back from Luxembourg yesterday afternoon (their for work for a couple of days) to find my pipes that i bought from Fosters Monster waiting for me, link pipes were a bit scabby so gave them a quick lick with the polisher, forgot to do a "Before" pic but they had 15000 miles of use on them so you can imagine what they looked like
Took about 2 hours start to finish, first a fully stitched mop to get rid of the surface rust etc then a calico to bring them up nice and shiny, luckily i have a large bench polisher so its quite easy work really

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n...0052008161.jpg

Cans are fine so will hopefully be putting the pipes on in the next day or so, look forward to the sound of it!

Tony660x 21-05-08 11:12

Looking good Chopster! The link pipes take a right battering regarding crap from the chain, road tar etc etc, they looks excellent. I am looking forward to the pictures when fitted, the CCC oval Titaniums are a rare thing indeed.

Chopper 21-05-08 11:34

wont be long and they will be on! was thinking of getting the link pipes ceramic coated so that they last a bit longer, the titanium pipes are as light as feather, i can imagine the stock ones are very heavy, my stoppies will be even higher!

**UPDATE**
Just got off the phone to the ceramic coater i use (Camcoat) it would be 30 to ceramic coat them in either a satin black or a stainless look finish, unfortunately its at least a 3 week wait at the moment so it will not be done now, will have to wait until the next time they look messy

dazzerrtw 24-05-08 11:25

Collected the seat yesterday,it's bright to say the least :sunny:
You can see in the photo how much bigger it is to the standered seat,so we hope it improves the comfort for Leigh on pillion.

were off to try it out now,so we will do a 200 mile ride today to see how it feel's, before we set off next weekend to the black sea.
let's hope it stop's any of this :pjrmoony_1JJHDG:

here is a linkto the seat builder

As I am 'hors de combat' for medical reasons (DVT) I was unable to go to the Donington practice today so I fitted the CCC longs to Blackie.

I fitted a full set of Avon Distanzias and also attempted to fit some rim tape. The tyres are the dogs danglies but the I did not like the rim tape, I dont think I did a very good job of fitting the tape to be honest so I ripped it back off again.

Very happy with the new tyres though, I shall wash the bike in the morning and take some piccies.

Picture added. To be honest I think I am about done now with modifications not that I actually have that many. I have the bike exactly as I want it for now.

CaptMoto 25-05-08 11:25

you need a DNA stage 2, specially with aftermarket cans, Tony trust me its like having a swimming champion with his neck choked by a tight rope. You need to let the machine breath more.

Gotta say that is so true!!! I couldn't believe the difference, much quicker and keeps on revving :041:

Chopper 25-05-08 23:45

Pipes fitted, bike washed + polished and coated in ACF50, and my new Touratech gear lever fitted (cant see it in the pic) much beefier than the stock item

Bought off ebay some Rally-Pro anodised aluminium & plastic handguards 38 inc. and with a bit of imagination fitted Blackie no problem. Have ordered some black ones 'cos these are blue (for Bluey)

Ooooh I just fitted my raiser links, gonna go for a quick spin see how the bike handles :titflash[1]:

Denny 01-06-08 22:00

Risers Fitted

Had them on in under 30minutes, with the assistance of my lurvely wife :dink:

The last picture is the only one 'before' shot I could find on a flat surface at that angle to show the difference. All seems great so far, I also eased the rear shock to the third notch. The rear end seems lighter now, and feels like it slids easily is this normal, has it happened to anyone else or am I just imagining it???

Hope you put a bit of oil on that chain?

maxwell123455 01-06-08 22:46

Denny its all normal cause you have alot more wiegh on the front end once you brake the rear is alot higher than standard and tries to lift alot easier than normal. When i fitted my risers to my XTR i noticed this but it wasnt too bad really. Just got to be cautious in the wet though, very easy to slide the rear under hard braking.

Denny 02-06-08 09:44

Gotcha! Any other tips other than riding in the rain (which I rarely do :D)

maxwell123455 02-06-08 10:16

Just watch for when you go racing in the very twisty stuff, cause if you do a left right or right left (flip flop corner) the suspension up front can take a while to cope with the force and can spring back at you on the second part of the corner and hit you hard in the man bits. I got one of those in wales.:smilielol:. Quite pain ful:cry[1]:. Thought i 1/2 my chance of having kids.:crybaby2:

Apart from that just take it easy for the first couple of races/runs to work so you can get used to how it handles. But im sure you have alreadly done this by now.

motonacio 07-06-08 18:36

1. Collected a spare pair of wheels from N.Yorks

2. Swapped the temporary Blue handguards for the permanent Black handguards.

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...acio/018-1.jpg

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...onacio/020.jpg

3. Fitted the Kev fork risers to Blackie.

4. Fitted the Kev raising links to Blackie. Check out that lean angle - my son calls it Townsend Thorensen ferry.

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...onacio/018.jpg

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...onacio/019.jpg

5. Adjusted chain & suspension to cater for the new horseback ride.

6. ? any guesses ?

I recall someone posting that he had never seen Distanzias on an R - so - being an obliging sort of fella ......

6. Fitted new Distanzias front and back.

CaptMoto 07-06-08 18:48

WOW, now I knew they did them also for the R but never seen them on one, so how do you rate them?

motonacio 07-06-08 18:54

They're the first new tyres I've had on either bike so they are bound to be better than any previous squared off jobbies. Only put them on this p.m. so haven't scrubbed them yet - that's tomorrow's job. Shall be out and about come rain or snow and will let you know after that. It's a rotten job but somebody's got to do it! jejejejeje

CaptMoto 07-06-08 18:57

Well going by Distanzia's reputation in this and other forum looks like you are not going to be disappointed.

even if you... :icon_scoot[1]: about!! lol

I must say i got my rear fitted Friday, went out for a little test ride as you do and didn't really have to scrub it in. I did 80 miles and rode as i normally do (read fast). Had no problems at all with it straight from fitting.
Truely amazing tyres!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah - an' 'cos they're slimmer than those fat ugly things on the X there's less rolling resistance - it's just the fat ugly thing on top that's the drawback! :naka:

New SS Oval CCC's

Fitted these beauties a few days ago. Gave the bike a clean on Saturday.

Really pleased with them, fitted a Kev fuel mod too. Bikes running so smooth now, really happy with it. Not too sure about the rim tape yet!

When tyres are made the manufacturer sprays a releasing agent into the mould so that the rubber compound does not stick. This agent penetrates the first mm. or so of the tread and gives it that 'glazed' appearance. The last thing you want in a tyre is one that does not stick to the road which is why you should always 'scrub' a new tyre (i.e. wear off the layer of penetrated glaze) before riding to your limit (you will not reach the tyre's limit unless your name is Ron Haslam!)

A secondary reason is that if you heat the tyre (by riding it) without putting too much sideways pressure on the tread the rubber will 'cure' more evenly and give a longer tyre life. My own opinion is that fast scrubbing leads to 800 miles life and 'sympathetic' scrubbing can give 4000+ miles life (1200 - 6000+ for front tyres) and I do not believe that it is at the cost of reduced 'stickiness'.
