Rear shock thoughts. ..?
Close to getting a new shock....already asked for and received some good advice. I just want to double check a few things..ie. would I be missing much if I got the basic Nitron Adventure shock with combined adjustment. . ? The next level of adjustment takes the cost of the Nitron close to the price of a n Ohlins from Off the Road !.....I've already got Ohlins fork springs and Teknik valves waiting to be fitted so hopefully a big improvement. The bells & whisles nitron is most lightly better than the basic Ohlins..
I bought the basic Ohlins 46DR1 from OTR then had a remote with hi/low speed compression damping fitted with a moded valve stack... The Ohlins 46DR1 from OTR is quite a roady shock.. I moved it more towards dirt set up.. If you are more of a road rider & easy dirt the Basic Ohlins from OTR may work best for you.. still way better than what yamaha put in them.. My XTR is not so great on the road/corners... might have taken it a bit to far towards dirt.... on the dirt..well thats a diffrent story i bet theres not two meany XT660 that would run with it down a rough trail... but just about any XT will leave me behind on a winedy road... So know what type of bike you are after...... ..

I bought Yss rear for the xtr. Cracking bit of kit and only �350 . Heard my mates nitro collapsed on his xtz with not much use

47,000 miles on my Nitron race unit. Mine was the first one/development mule. No problems. Should really have had it serviced rather a long time ago.
I'd happily have another, knowing they are only down the road in Oxford if there any issues. |

I bought the basic Nitron and it's all I'll ever need.
It just took me, my missus and all the camping gear around Belgium and France with only a little adjustment. If you're not racing, spend more time on road than off, then this is all you need. Great service direct from Nitron.

I also have a basic Nitron. I didn't adjust it when i went to Norway last year (complete with gear). Id did great on all those bumpy gravel roads.

I think it's all down to personal preference really Steve,the adjustment is vast on a fully adjustable and being able to adjust it to what you are riding at the turn of knob is just brilliant,having run the ohlins for a while now I would recommend it to anyone. Yes it is expensive and if couldn't of got One i would of gone for the fully adjustable nitron shock. Carrying all that heavy gear perhaps a fully adjustable will be the way for you.
