Has anyone ?

Got a picture of a Yamaha XT660Z with a blacked out screen ?

My bike is all black and I wanted to paint the screen black too but not sure how it would look.

Cheapest and most easily reversed option would be to wrap it in black vinyl and see how it looks.

If it's pants then just remove the vinyl and underneath is your original screen, unmolested by rubbing down to get a key for paint.

Quite a few guys are using vinyl to wrap various parts of bodywork.

Give it a go and post a piccie

If you have a "friendly" car window tinter, you might be able to get it tinted for not much money. The beauty of this would be that the tint is on the inside of the screen so will not be affected by cleaning off dead bugs etc. A good tinter will give you a 100% bubble free finish on the screen.

With the vinyl option the front of the screen would be the "finished" surface and would need gentle (ish) cleaning to maintain a good look.

All still cheaper than a 80 odd quid screen though eh?

Vinyl wrap is probably the best way forward? Anyway, check out this video on how to do it on the Z. Jump to the last minute or so to see the whole bike and screen (it is blue one mind you).
