Handlebar Vibrations

I know its an issue with the XT and can be one of those problems that affects different bikes at different speeds. My bike seems to generate fairly nasty vibes at around 70mph. below 60mph it seems okay and above 80mph the vibes tend to disappear but when they start I can feel my hands will be numb in no time if I dont adjust my speed.

Has anyone found a cure for this? I did read that filling the bars with silicon works, is this a fact / has it been proven to work?

I have hand guards fitted with standard bar end weights, doesnt seem to make any difference if the hand guards are removed, so I dont believe these are the problem. So if anyone has found a cure please post what cured the problem

I use to have an xtr with standard bars, acerbis hand guards and the inner bar end weights, with oxford heated grips (the harder rubber type). I found something similar but found that the bar end weights kept coming loose, tightening them up makes a big difference and also making sure all the rubbers that connect the cars to the yokes of the forks are tight be not over tightened.

Other option is after market bars (had a crash on mine and the standard bars are like putty againist a sledge hammer in a crash) I got renthal streetfighters (seemed to fit me fine) and they made a good bit of difference.

Not tried the silicon idea but also heard about filling the bar inners with sand and just siliconing the ends up??

Had the same problems with the standard bars. Mirrors became useless at any decent speed. Crashed, fitted Renthal Jimmy Button bars, problem solved!

Yep that will do it.

I fitted fat bars with bark busters and do not have vibs that I notice.
