Smile Front Brake Cable Position

Hi all. New XT660R today :-) Just a quick question. The front brake cable obscures the speedo under normal riding conditions, is it ok to use a cable tie berween the hydraulic tube and the handlebar to just pull the cable slightly out of the line of sight ?

I think this would be fine but don't want to mess with it without asking for advice first ...

Thanks in advance, - Steve

Of course it is ok, as long as you do not pull it in such a constricting way that would result in the actual hose being squeezed, don't forget these are hydraulic brake lines and need to shift fluid when engaged.

However I am aware that while the XTX comes as standard with a braided hose front line, while the XTR has a plain rubber hose, perhaps, if in future you would wish to improve your brake action investing in a Hel Braided brake line (much better in my opinion, I guarantee you) then you could re-route the newly fitted braided hose in a slightly different position and with enough lenght to avoid it overshawdowing your speedo.

I have replaced my rear rubber hose with a braided one and I have noticed a definate improvement in braking action.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for that. There's a few upgrades I'd like, the hoses as you suggested, some hand guards and the belly protector. Then maybe I'll look into some nice cans ... :-)
