Of course it is ok, as long as you do not pull it in such a constricting way that would result in the actual hose being squeezed, don't forget these are hydraulic brake lines and need to shift fluid when engaged.

However I am aware that while the XTX comes as standard with a braided hose front line, while the XTR has a plain rubber hose, perhaps, if in future you would wish to improve your brake action investing in a Hel Braided brake line (much better in my opinion, I guarantee you) then you could re-route the newly fitted braided hose in a slightly different position and with enough lenght to avoid it overshawdowing your speedo.

I have replaced my rear rubber hose with a braided one and I have noticed a definate improvement in braking action.
