I think most guys recommend the renthal sprockets with tsubaki x ring chain. Also DID chain and sprocket kits come highly recommended.
Captmoto said in another thread: Recommended after market chains & sprockets for the XT's are Renthal sprockets and Tsubaki gold (not real gold) chains For XTX / XTR http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk/shop/t...%5E+XT660R.htm That's where I got mine from good price and quick delivery. Very happy with the quality and brought a scottoiler at the same time to keep them tip top. Phil

Just be wary that most renthal sprockets are aluminium alloy and wear much more rapidly than steel ones. The only benefit of an alu sprocket is weight saving and, with the best will in the world, the few grams you'll save will be pretty irrelevant on hefty old XT!
Personally, I've always found steel JT and Sunstar sprockets to be reasonably priced and perfectly well up to the job. If you want the best of both worlds (light weight and long life) then consider a Supersprox rear sprocket. |

I've read a bad review about those supersprox sprockets, some guy had one and the teeth started falling apart almost instantly, then he had a nightmare with the company's customer support trying to find a solution. May have been a freak incident though. I did wonder about the point of having a lighter sprocket on the hefty XT, kind of like fitting those silent sprockets, what's the point when the thing is so damn loud anyway! Still people are claiming to get really good mileage from the renthal sprockets which is why I went with that despite it being alloy. Time will tell I guess, and they are incredibly light compared to steel I must say!

I don't know, never tried a Supersprox. I've always been put off by the hefty price tag and the fact that I'm not really sure what the actual real-world advantage is, other than they look blingy - until they get covered in Scottoil in my case and then you can't tell what sprocket you've got!

Just had an email from wemoto and they are doing 15% all DID chains and also DID chain and sprocket kits until 31st March. Might be of use for you?

I'll second the praise of DID chains. I'll specific recommend their gold chains where the outer plates don't rust easily. If you run with an automatic oiler that keep the rollers nicely greased the outer plates don't get much love.
Last year i fitted a DID 520 VX2 On my super tenere i went trough the following with an average of ~25000km DID 520VM DID 530VM Gold DID 525ZVM Gold and before that i was also happy with them on my XT600Z I've also tried other brands - and will not recommend AFAM DC 520 MTX RK 520 XSO DC 520 MXO CZ 520 ORM The last has that in common that they have lasted less than 10k, but the CZ was also less than half price ...

Nice to hear about your experiences with the cheaper sets too I've seen them about and wondered about their quality.
