error code 9: 0.0v battery dying after a ride?

hi guiys,
just a quick problem I have after stripping my recently purchased bike for a frame paint. the battery keeps dying after a few hours riding. Ive swapped the battery for another fully charged one, then it died as well. I then checked the eroor codes and the code 9 reads 0.0v (code 9 is battery voltage). yet with the kill swiotch on run it reads 12volts.

I then swapped the voltage reg for another one that I know is good, ran the bike for 30 seconds, then re-checked the error code. code 9 still reads 0.0v. and 12v with the kill switch on run.

I hooked up a multi meter up and its reading about 14.5v across the battery terminals with the headlight on and the bike running... same with both regulators...

any comments?

I've had this sort of trouble before after painting/powder coating frames before. It's quite common when frames are restored.

I reckon you've got a bad earth somewhere due to paint build up?

Check continuity of all earth connections with a multimeter, particularly between engine and frame, battery and frame and between rectifier and battery/frame/engine.
