Well i used to have a tenere about three bikes back until some bar steward decided they wanted it more than me and just took it!
ended up with a suzuki drz400sm for a while (good fun) then saved and got me a cheap yam xj6n from flea bay. traded that in about three month back for a Honda NC700X Now im craving a xt660 again! just seen one on a good deal, going to look at it tomorrow. While the NC700X is a good workhorse, it just has no soul. help needed positives and negatives please...... cheeaz

You should now the pitfalls.Suspension is a bit ,well and the seat in the clouds but.

I think the people on here are honest enough to point out the negatives. For me the only one is that I always lusted after my next bike - now I can't think of a better one to lust after.

Negatives hmm
I started listing some stuff but turns out they were all subjective. Bike is more or less bulletproof tech wise. Only cons I can think of to mention that are subjective and may/may not be an issue for some is seat, wind screen and power. But hey, that goes for *any* bike. Soft suspension (for non-ABS) has been mentioned. Perhaps be on guard for the regulator rectifier plug being properly seated on some of the old ones? I say go for it ![]() |

cheeky i know, but dont suppose you want to reveal the location of the said track do you? (going to Scotland soon).
I take it your on standard gearing if cruising at 85mph? I agree with your comments on the Ten, another point is that for the price of a beemer you could get two Teneres! im a novice off roader but ive been getting on great with the Ten. |

I don't think I have much to add to the above comments, other than to agree with most of them.
To be honest, I have seen a lot of bikes capable of doing multi-tasks, including 800cc Tigers, 990 KTMs, DRs and KLRs. Our bikes' strength is in the comfort of the versatility and the range of it. It's comfy enough on sealed roads, happy on bad dirt roads and even capable of reasonable trail riding without scaring your mud button wide open. Which has all been pointed out above. ![]() |

There are lots of reasons not to buy a Tenere, but you could find the same for any bike. Not everyone has the funds or luxury, but if you want everything then you need to consider multiple bikes. I think the Tenere is a pretty well sorted all rounder.

It will give you a better view over the cars. Servicing every 6k not too bad, and can be done youself. I am on my second set of rear pads but still the original fronts with 33.5k on it now. For me I like the way it looks and the way it rides. What I dont like, the wind buffeting through the fork legs (Many topices on here) and like all bikes the lights in the dark are rubbish. There are a wee bit vibes through the pegs and bars. Hey ho you pays your money you makes your choice. Tell us more about your Honda. ![]()
