I don't think I have much to add to the above comments, other than to agree with most of them.
To be honest, I have seen a lot of bikes capable of doing multi-tasks, including 800cc Tigers, 990 KTMs, DRs and KLRs. Our bikes' strength is in the comfort of the versatility and the range of it. It's comfy enough on sealed roads, happy on bad dirt roads and even capable of reasonable trail riding without scaring your mud button wide open. Which has all been pointed out above.

, or not, since the Tenere has an easy-going nature. If I had to level a handling criticism at my bike, I would say that it has an occasional unnerving tendency to understeer when I least expect it, even with correct ride height settings. This isn't the first Yamaha I've had with this characteristic, so it's no real drama - I hope!
