What!? I suppose its individual tastes but personally I reckon the Ten seat is excellent by comparrison to my past bikes.

The trouble is that you can spend loads of cash on a new seat that the manufacturer will tell you is the dogs but it won't work for you. I have never heard of suppliers offering a '100 mile test my seat offer' either.

If its just distance thats the problem then try gel cycling shorts. Has worked for me on my previous plank of a seat. Failing that there is a company called Dan Medico who make a gel seat cushion that is 40 and excellent. Adds some 3 cm's to your seat height so hope your tall!

Good luck with this age old cookie. If every arse was the same it would all be so easy.

I'd also say its one of the better saddles I've parked my butt on and one of the 1st that didnt influence my fuel stop strategy (sofar). My only critisim is the step limiting your ability to shuffle back if you want to stretch a bit.

Alright Dave, can I hazard a guess you're around 6' or more?
I had mine done by Saxon Seats down in Dorchester, as did another from this forum.

I had the seat height raised, firmer foam, gel and the seat was widened and the cut out moved back. I can do a ride non stop til the tank need fuel no worries.
Speak to http://www.saxonseats.co.uk/ I think the guy that dealt with me was called Adam, very helpful.

When you do this you personalise the bike, to the point it may become difficult to sell on - depending on what you do.

my advice is to try some other lower cost options first, I must have posted a dozen posts with the same message,,,

Underwear. Don't discount good seamless underwear, it will make the difference between a 100 mile ride and 300 miles. Honestly, I've tried it. You can get m'cycle specific boxers that are wicking and seamless (feel a bit strange but well worth it).

Your pants, I can't cover more than 150 miles in my leathers, but 300 is easy with the rally suit on. again, it's the eams that are the problem area.

I've never tried cycle shorts, but the principle is the same, so I can't see why it wouldn't improve things.

Mobility in the seat, move about a bit, even if it's just a mile or two standing up, you need to excercise your cafl muscles to keep the blood flowing around your feet anyway. Another benefit of standing up is you cool your tuch!

If this fails then consider an AirHawk, it's one of those lifetime purchases and you can take it from bike to bike - and they are brilliant. 700 miles day after day with one of those.

Or you could get the seat re-done.... but you still wouldn't be sure it would work when you parted with your cash, and it can't be easily undone.

choices choices .....

I was tempted to have flying penii embroidered on, but thought better of it
You are right GULG, there are other options available and it is a very personal thing. I find my textiles less comfortable than my leathers to ride in, and the search for support for the old boy that doesn't chafe elsewhere is always ongoing, although I do think I may have found the solution.
Sheepskin helps as well, and is cheaper than an airhawk or getting your seat done.

M&S do some boxers that seem to do the trick nicely. Certainly done 500 miles in a day without even noticing any seams there or in my textiles, doing up to 200 miles in a stint (3 hours) at which point my concentration was shot anyway. Got on the bike the following day and wished I could have done the journey again! Moving as GULGo says certainly helps, I have not really found the step to being an impediment to changing where I sit on the bike (though my Bikers textile trousers have a pad in the crotch to aid grip so I can sit on the slope without sliding down.

I shall hunt them out then, current personal faves are some Tesco F&F items, though they're a little old...
