You are right GULG, there are other options available and it is a very personal thing. I find my textiles less comfortable than my leathers to ride in, and the search for support for the old boy that doesn't chafe elsewhere is always ongoing, although I do think I may have found the solution.
Sheepskin helps as well, and is cheaper than an airhawk or getting your seat done.

M&S do some boxers that seem to do the trick nicely. Certainly done 500 miles in a day without even noticing any seams there or in my textiles, doing up to 200 miles in a stint (3 hours) at which point my concentration was shot anyway. Got on the bike the following day and wished I could have done the journey again! Moving as GULGo says certainly helps, I have not really found the step to being an impediment to changing where I sit on the bike (though my Bikers textile trousers have a pad in the crotch to aid grip so I can sit on the slope without sliding down.
