this wheeling lark is a piece of cake....2nd gear (about 30kph) clutch in rev bit harder then let clutch out as soon as the front is up and when you fill the balance point cover the back brake...small pressing on foot brake is now needed...(i find my arse is at end of seat to balance bike) to keep the front wheel up...change to while blipping the throttle but not to much revs change to 4th and same to 5th....seems easy enough but practise is needed...i learnt to wheelie on XR250 when i was 12
last weekend at motard track i clocked my speedo at 134kph in 5th gear |
Nice pics ;)
big wheelie too... I still haven't got it, but I haven't tried. Got a blasted letter through the door saying I was doing 39 in a 30 zone, OwwwW. Grrr. (no excuse, was just going home, same as everyone else.lol) So another ticket for wheelie offence, whatever they call it, is not needed. so it's back to 'where to practice safely' for me. Shame that wheelie school place isn't a short drive away from me. so for now here's another silly video. ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-Qu0...00RVAAAAAAAAAQ |
Sorry to hear about the speeding ticket...why not get a small rear plate made up I remember having one about 6" by 1" they are called show plates

But then don't I just get an extra fine for illegal plates?
True, I dislike the large teatray on the back of my bike. If I was wheelieing up the road, they wouldn't have seen my reg, haha. ..slightly irrelavent, but I was thinking of looking for a reg number that would fit onto one line to have a smaller plate. |
The smaller plate on one line is what I was thinking....i used to live in london (dagenham) so in and out of traffic was normal to me and they don't see your plate lol yes you could get fined if you stopped that's up to you or get a plate made up with thinner letters and numbers most car shops should make them

Here in Blighty my m8 took his WR450 out after a rebuild
just around the block, came off an island & poppD up the front a little ways right in front of Mr Plod, thought he got away with it untill 2 Police cars turned up outside his house they gave him a ticket, section 18 or sumat, if they saw him or anyone else poppN Wheelies on it again then they take it off him & Scrap it, he sold it the next week & got another one |
i thought i'd add to this instead of starting a new thread...
so i have an xtx with only exhaust modifications and thought i'd have a go at some wheelies.. I have no problems getting the front up in 1st gear using both clutch and power techniques but can't do it in second gear. Im rolling at about 20-25 mph then clutching in rev the rpm's and popping clutch....the most i can get the front up is around 1 ft. Also pulling the front up doesn't add much.. What are ur guys techniques for getting it up in 2nd? what speeds are you rolling at and how much throttle u giving it? ta |
have you changed the rear sprocket? sit further back on the seat, stand with left foot on the rear foot peg and push down when you pop it
