just washed both tiger n tenere n sprayed up with wd40 as they are living under bike covers. both came up well then had to do a few wheelies in car park for fun!!!

How do you find that WD40 on the plastics and paint work? Haven't tried it myself but folks over here reckon it's to strong.

I just fitted the famous Kev mod to my XT660X and it was really dead easy and must have taken me about 15 minutes tops. I went for a quick ride and it seems MUCH smoother but I must ride for a few days and I will then let you know, it seems brilliant THANKS KEV!!!!

I have been using Steel Silicone spary for over a decade, every time I wash my bike I spary the whole bike then wipe it down, it keeps my bike like new.

Steel Brand Silicone Spray
Eliminate annoying squeaks, sticking and corrosion with this all-purpose spray-on lubricant and release agent. Steel Brand SBL Series Silicone Spray leaves no greasy film, and is not affected by water or oil, and will not freeze or melt.

I buy it by the box which works out quite a bit cheaper, my supplier can ship anywhere in Oz.

wd40 on the tank and plastics works well and with a wee wipe after makes them shine and also protects and chips from turning to o rusty spots. just be careful as wd40 will take the glue off stickers so go easy on stickers if not just a spray on a towel and wipe over.

took front wheel off, cleaned down front brakes and pushed pistons in and out and cleaned off gunch. greased spindle and bolts to brake calipers all were supper dry.

took rear wheel off, cleaned brake slider on swing arm, cleaned all around spindle and greased. re packed Cush drives. took dog bones off and greased rollers for rear suspension. put all back together.

filled up with fuel, just with grandad in hospital as he's no well, but got a 150mile ride home after getting boat back to Scotland. lets hope she rolls a bit better now!

Not very happy the way the EGO B/Bs mounted on the clutch side. Clutch cable hard up against mounting clamp. Looks like I'll have to buy another bit.
Anyone else had any trouble mounting these two stock bars?

Bar risers & clutch cable...

I fitted 30mm SW Motec risers (not happy with ergs standing) to the already higher & wider Renthal Jimmy Button bars. However, clutch cable pulled tight in the straight ahead position & stupidly tight when turning.

I called the motorbike shop today & they told me they sell made up clutch cables that I could cut to length & fit. Is that right?

Cheers,

Boneman

I have a dumb question which may well have been asked and answered many times in which case I apologise.

I have an XT660X and I love it and I ride it in all weathers, fortunately here we have only a month or two of bad weather per year but mainly just rain and cool temperatures, nothing drastic, although we had a week of snow last year and when I tried I fell off the XT after about 5 metres!!!

My idea would be to have two sets of wheel and tyres so that I could run the XT as a road bike with the standard road 17inch wheels for most of the year, and then switch over to the winter set with semi knobblies on 21/18 wheels off the XT660R.

When I asked my Yamaha dealer he mumbled something about the forks not being the same so you cannot swop the wheels between the R and the X. Ok, but is there a way to run two sets of wheels/tyres?????

Thanks gang!!! Simon

Yes you can put a 17" in front of your R but you have to buy a 17" rim and spockes to fit your orig front hub.
