Cheers again for help lads. I’ve done the test with the volt meter again with no rise in voltage when a rise in revs. Also a test with regulator taken off bike following instructions from a YouTube video , that showed it was ok.I’m hoping I’ve followed the instructions wrong in the video tbh . I’m picking up a regulator in a bit from a local bike breaker. Fingers crossed.

Well done...now sell the stator you bought and have FUN!!

If it was your regulator/ rectifier that was the problem. Then more than likely your stator is on its way out. When the stator is on its way out it blows the regulator/rectifiers. Its very common on the Honda bikes. ( I deal in cbr 929) 9 times out of 10 when the regulator/rectifier go’s its down to the stator. I come across it a lot. And if the stator is damaged ( you may not see the damage) or on its way out it will just blow the new regulator/ rectifier , might take a day, a week might take 2 months But there is a good chance it will blow it again

Good to know. Cheers

It’s very very common. I even bought a bike of a lad that had 3 rectifiers go down in a month so sold the bike cheap as he had had enough with the bike. I checked the stator after I bought the bike. And stator was on its way out ( black burning on the copper wire) changed that job done. Then sold bike for 1000 profit . And I have had myself a cbr 900,hornet 600 and 2 cbr 929 all go down with this problem. And have sorted out several other 929/954 owner that had same problem and did not know what it was. It’s that common on the Honda. I know of one or two people that tour carry a spare stator/rectifier under there seat when touring
