did you ever check all of the fuses? just to be sure...follow the wiring from stator to the battery...emiminate as many other possible faults before investing in parts...

:hello: and :welcome: to :660:

Yeah I checked fuses. Cheers for reply 👍

Have you checked the old system at 5k rev's?..is your old battery holding a charge?..what did the vendor say about the issue?..

David Barnett 01-02-18 14:26

To be honest Im not sure it was 5k revs when I tested old system, I just revved it a few times and the volt meter didnt rise. Both batteries are new so Im assuming they are ok . Ive been in touch with the ( private) seller who has sent me a stator. Cheers Barney

nikroc 01-02-18 14:30

ok..are you planning on trying the old stator test?..ie hold revs at 5k and test for voltage increase..

I would have thought your reg/recifier could be the issue tbh..

+1 on the rectifier failing, especially if your headlight bulb has blown and you haven't noticed that yet.

David Barnett 02-02-18 23:11

Think it is the regulator/ rectifier lads. Fitted different stator and no change. Any body got one for sale?

nikroc 03-02-18 10:15

Have tested the current one??(no pun intended).

Get the part numbers and do an ebay search..a few on second hand and a lot new.

Upon reading your post it reminded me of previous hondas I have owned and their tendency to lunch a rectifier so I also had a look with the idea of getting a spare, just in case. I've a 2011 xtz and it looks the same as the xtz/xtr one which also looks the same as other yamaha model, like the r6 and r1, but is listed on ebay sightly differently, looks like wider pins.

Think I'll take a punt on one of these and test it upon arrival.
