Locky's XT660Z

I thought i'd start a thread about my XT660Z that i picked up yesterday . I've already got the tank off to just give it a clean and do a few small jobs but over the next few months it'll be renewing all the fluids , looking at the calipers ,valve clearances , and adding various bits and mods . I'll also be giving it a engine service (maybe next week if i get time) .
I'll be using it offroad after the winters out the way , so need to add various things like a tool tube etc etc
I'll add some pics along the way (folk love pics) so you can see what i'm doing and maybe put me right :) .
Here's the first few pics , one of the bike posing and one with the tank off ..

Tank off to see what it all looks like and gave it a good clean with WD40 and loads of rags ..
Just thought i should add that it's a 2009 model and its done 13400 miles .

Did you get that beauty off of eBay, I looked at that one...

I remember the blue bash plate....

Very nice mate...

Has it been Kev modded yet ?

First thing to do IMHO...

Yes it was the same one you seen on ebay . No Kev mods yet .

Great, you are in for a treat....

I'd run it like it is for a good few weeks and then do the mods so you can really feel the difference across the entire bike.

:bravo:

Gibbo1974 , as for engine mods all i want to do is replace the standard air filter with a K&N or something then get the fueling sorted but that will be over winter . I done quite a few jobs yesterday , here's a pic of the plastic cover i made to fill the hole under the seat .

The next job was to renew a few heavily rusted fasteners .

The fixings that hold the rubber flap thingy to the swingarm were a nightmare to remove and ended up fitting new thread inserts into the swingarm .
