A few more mods . I've relocated the horn so it won't get covered in mud and water spray from the front wheel ..

http://shop.touratech.co.uk/horn-repositioner-yamaha-xt660z-tenere.html It also points the horn down to the ground - which is a bit daft too! |
Can't see any pic !

Just a couple of points Locky, the hole underneath the swingarm is to allow water out, if I was to use that I would open it up a bit. You have made an excellent cover at the front of the bike but do you know how hot the Reg / Recifier gets? Very hot, I think you may compromise the cooling. Just a thought.

SteveD , i think water will still drain out of the swingarm but i'll keep a check on things .
I did think about reg/rect cooling as i know they get quite warm and it's still at the back of my mind . I was thinking along the lines of other bikes i own/owned that have the reg/rect covered by fairings etc . I've not long sold a KTM950SM and the reg/rect was mounted behind the engine and quite close to the rear downpipe ! Now that you've pointed out the cooling situation i might make further mods to ensure it's in the airflow when riding .. |
How about this?
I have a small bracket underneath the headlight bracket and have extended the wiring loom using a Fazer reg / rec. This keep it nice and cool and away from the water and crud from the front wheel. The Fazer reg has about 300mm of loom connected directly into the unit and is sufficient to keep the loom loose and enable relacation here. I chopped off the original unit and soldered the wires together, no more worries about that connector. http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/a...ulator0032.jpg |
I thought of something along the same lines but thats probably the best place to mount it . I was thinking of extending the original loom and mounting it in a different location ..
