Top Speed
Dont know where to post this but I wanted to know what is your topspeed you reached on your Xt
I have a 660X and managed to get 177km/h last night. I was well impressed. what is yours ??? |
Unfortunatley only 102 mph. Unfortunatley, because I was trying to keep up with my brother on his R1.
Throttle could go no further. |
99, never seen 3 figures on mine, its not all about top speed though, is it??
|
I once saw 122mph on the clock on mine... It was on the way home from the last Rye run. I was lying flat on the tank for about 5 mins against the throttle stop... (M25) I think it may have been over-reading a touch... (there's no way in hell it'll do 120+)!
|
Well ,No it isnt about topspeed but I got that last night without a problem so I thought this was good as the bike did not wobble or anything .It was stable and I was sitting on the bike ,not laying behind the screen or anything.
|
105 down hill on a motorway with a run up and the wind behind me... thought it was going to explode though :p
Haven't seen three figures since then though :icon_colors: Mind you, I went 'round a round-a-bout at 60 last night and that felt 10x better:D |
99mph :evil3: . Standard or modded on the flat never seen anything obove this. Mind you I'm not to fussed. I sold the last bike because of the temptation to speed excessively :014: .
Glad my XT will only do this. Keeps my licence and grin intact. :dink: |
119mph, on flat motorway, then I've got kicked in the nards by something called rev limiter, ouch!
|
119mph on standard gearing?
|
yes, i don't like changing sprockets and messing up the speedo, bear in mind I have a PCIII, both filters stage1+2, no snorkel, AIS disconnected and in my view the best cans on the market ==>> 60mm bore Carbon & Titanium stubby Carbon Can Co.
|
111 mph on a closed road ;)
Z |
109mph when I first got the bike
but recently only been able to get upto 105mph think its the beer and takeaways! |

I don't know what its set at but I guarantee you its too damn close for my liking, but then I asked Kev and he said if it Reverend Limiter wasn't there my bike would go pop, so I take it as that's the best I am ever going to get out of it. As for the vibrations, it's not that different from the bike idleing tbh.
|
i think the rev limiters set about 7500 .

Remind me not to bid on your bike if ever you sell it! |
Sure thing, I'll make a note of that :crybaby: :read:
|
A few facts for you.
Lets say your bike will run all the way in top gear to the governor. That's 7200RPM. If you run standard sprockets your top speed at 7200RPM will be 170.4KPH If you run a one tooth bigger front sprocket your top speed at 7200RPM will be 181.9KPH You would also need to allow for the built in speedo error, of about 10% over reading, depending on how worn the rear tyre is. |

Kev, or anyone else... so wits the philophsy about more teeth on the rear compared to less teeth in the front sprocks. ????
|
More teeth on the rear will give you better acceleration but lower top speed.
|
Capt....119mph C`mon we`re all grown ups here...a had a vardero 1000 an its very very top speed was 125mph it just would not go any more...also I had a xjr 13 an I got 135 an not a dickie burd faster ,,,an your tellin us ye kin do 119 fae an aul 650 single.....C`mon.....whits an AIS Dissconnected.???? a balsted ma bike an a saw 97 on a level m way no wind other than what I was creating......wir ye on drugs when ye saw 119
|
Hearin talk about rev limiters...over th elast few days wi me tryin wheelie on this thing....ave felt the rev limiter kick in a few times in second gear ... a know thats not how ye wheelie like revin out.....but it seems to kick in ever so quick....Can ye set it,,, or how do you tell what yer max revs are....
|
No John, the rev limiter is not something you can't interfere with and according to Kev is there for a reason, mainly to stop the bike over-revving and damaging vital engine parts.

Going on the grounds what Kev says the maximum a standard geared XT can do is 106mph. The fact others are getting higher readings just means the speedo is out.
If you are flat out in 5th on the limiter at 7200rpm then this = 106mph. Only changing the gearing can change that. It does not matter how tuned the bike is. The tuning will only make the bike get there quicker. |
I hitt the Reverend Limiter at 181 km/h with a 15 frontsprock. :mod_smilie_icon_pol
|
Capt....I dont do drugs either not since 83...anyway that was jist a wee bit a jehovial banter in ma post :evil5: there a didnt think ye thought a wis serious...John
|
John I appreciate, and don't worry nothing was taken personal, but I let you into a little secret of mine, I have learnt the hard way to pause and think before I speak, God only knows if I was to run my mouth on impulse everytime I was challenged, how many people and friends I would offend.
So... I have learnt to button it up from time to time and to simmer a little before I speak. It seems to work :D |
I saw 100 on the clock last night desperately trying to get home from Essex on the 25 before I drowned!
Doesn't feel very comfortable though I must admit. Why is it that 70-80 on the motorway seems to bash you around more than 70-80 on normal roads??? My neck feels like I've been lifting armoured trucks with my head this morning! |

I've hit about 170/5 kmh a couple of times, not that I've enjoyed it much! |
Veloc MAX!!!!!! TOP SPEED
Here in Brasil using a other Combust.... Alcool!! not Gasoline... The Top Speed.. is around 195 KM/ph
|
I was doing 109 mph (indicated) the other night. Not as fast as my bike was before fitting the new cans.

As Anyone tried a GPS on their bike to compair the speed reading's ?
On my last bike I reset the Max speed on the GPS and tried it on the Bypass { In Germany :tongue3: } and The bike's speedo read 125.the Max speed reading on the GPS was 112,I'm told that the GPS is more accurate !!!!! |
I have a Tom Tom. With the Avon Distanzias on (it was different with the Pirellis on) the indicated speed at anything below 40 seems to be accurate. Over 40mph there seems to a difference which gets bigger as the speed increases. At 75mph you are actually doing about 69-70mph.
It is quite difficult to track the speed on our bikes because a 1 degree change in throttle position can be a 10 mile and hour difference in speed and the GPS can't keep up. Z |
Welll thats 3 times ave been oer the Ton at different times...the first was 101 a saw on the clock, second time was 103....an today I saw 105... not bad fur a 600 mile old bike, straight out the crate so tae speak....and the wheelies their commin on a treat.....well ma speedo now reads 750 miles...an a wid say am jist now settlin in wi it.... a wis past the yam an tumpet shop the day there, an a sat on a Triple 3 an it felt like a proper wee street bike....Maybe.!!!!! watch this space....Mabozzar
|
185 km/h on the motorway real flat no wind , but the bike was not stable at all !!! I have heard and 195 km/h top speed from my friend ....
|
187kmh (116mph) downhill with the wind behind me.... Normally on the flat 175kmh.
On a (blue) XTR that is.... :tongue11: |
