In 2005 when i had my bike for a half year wanted to get to the max on a freeway nearby and got to 182... the last 2 km on the display took very long to reach.
Was afraid to push it longer than that with the risk of loosing my bike, license etc...
The XT was completely standard.

My 07 LE does 161Km/h om the Garmin, thats about 170 Km/h on the XTX dash.

Kev 26-03-09 12:55

182kph/113mph on the speedo, recorded speed using a Speedo Healer, the bike was on the rev limiter 7200rpm.

What, ive just about had mine at 100mph cough on a closed road!! and that was all it wanted to do. mine you i did have standard cans and a top box on.

Chris1811 26-03-09 19:16

no must admit my 104mph was on a very very straight! longish motorway like road!!! maybe!! :50:

But i find my R is fine at high speeds on straigths but cornering gets very sketchy!!

dave-v-v 26-03-09 19:58

Well I got about 90 and it wobbles like jelly and scares the poop out of me :onetequila: so I will just stick to 70 to 85 for now.

rtlkyuubi 22-04-09 01:07

Ive had about 107ish out of mine and thats with ccc stubbies, k&n filter and upped co. Also noticed its not as stable sometimes now that ive got the viper sport tyre on the rear.

Speed in gears

Just wondering where the rev limiter comes in, in the various gears. Personally I've only hit the limiter in 2nd at about 49/50mph and 3rd about 72/75mph. As for top speed I've not really tried that yet but have managed just under the ton. Generally I find the excelleration good up to about 90-95mph but above that its wait&see. Still that is a lot better than I had expected.:glasses10:

Nt1980 18-07-10 00:27

On my tenere xt660z ive hit 122mph but the gps said 101mph that was with panniers top box and pillion going down hill and wind behind probably not a good idea :021:

yeah mine was showing 107mph only snorkel removed no shaking or vibration still wont be doing it again much more fun taking a left hander as fast as you can.

iShoe 07-09-11 18:52

175 kmh. Stage 1&2, kev mod, leo... I shuld try now since i upgraded to hyperpro springs...

Kev 08-09-11 02:00

Ask Kris007 what his top speed is on his 734cc XTX, I know when I rode it last I could roll it on from 160kph & it would pull hard, I tapped off at 180kph sitting up & it still had more to go.
:yahoo::50: test done on private road.

Top Speed indicated

My XT660R has 48000 miles on the clock and the best I've seen is 117mph.
I know the speedo will be optomistic but looking at other bikes that have had a lot of money spent on them this is a great result. My mods are as follows NGK R0373A-9 racing spark plug
MTC race cans,K+N air filter,CO set to 16,TPS set to 16 and Kev air box mod set to -7'c.Recently fitted Avon Distanzias and new rear shock.Bike very stable at this speed the shock is set on minimum setting and forks have standard springs and 12.5 weight fork oil.

whoopie doo....117mph... are ye sure it wisnae 107 an wi the vibrations ye thought ye saw 117....C`mon...XT`s dont do that,, i was flat out the day on the same strtetch o road that ye said ye`d acheived that,,,towards Newhouse down that hill, an i was flat out an saw 109... fur me to get another8mph...ad need someone pushin me....wir ye on drugs at the time...???, keep that kinda speed up an ye`l be headin fur a engine blowupa think i need to :protest: an say...ye werent doin that speed, what ye think it is a xt1200 :SpinHappy_15XK8L:if ye keep talkin like that they be :3some: about ye....next time take yer :glasses1: off an ye`l see the right reading on yer clocks :icon_study: sayin that ma :love9: goes out tae ye as a :024: all this jargon, it was the Smilies that made me do it :blob3:

66T 11-09-11 10:55

I saw 176km/h on my speedo some time ago with about 4000km on the clock, stock tyres, 30degC, no luggage but a rucksack made crouching down a bit pointless...

Considering there is a 9% speedo error on my bike, that makes it a whisker under 160km/h which is about right and what I'd expect given the prevailing conditions.

mrfijjitt 11-09-11 11:35

My XTX weaves like a gooden at 100mph, no way I'm pushing it any faster.
I've lowered it 20mm too, thought this would help, it did, but only abit.
Maybe it's the slightly taller screen, doubt it tho.

Probably time to check steering bearings properly..

That is very funny John made me giggle maybe the reason that you only got 109mph was because of the drag of yer big sheepskin seat cover.:smilies0979:

afk40 12-09-11 00:29

john.. as i was doin a 109..mind that was wi a 14 tooth front sprock,, as a know that takes a wee bit off ma top end,:033: say around 6mph...so i must say yer still in teh lead at 117.....:incon_aargh[1]:

Major Fatty 12-09-11 15:03

John if you are running a 14 tooth front sprocket then your speedo will be way out and will over read your speed,109mph reading may be 100mph actual.
