Salisbury Plain Ride...Aug B/H Monday.

Anyone up for a Plain Ride-out!!

I'm out on the Bank Holiday Monday (30th),all the range byways (apart from Imber) will be open,so who's up for it.

The ride will be suitable for road based tyres/novice off-roaders by sticking to the gravel tracks, but if very dry then we could try a few others if the riders are feeling confident.

Mind you ....It is a B/H weekend,so it will be wet!!

I'm away on holiday from Sat 21st to Sat 28th,so I will sort out the main details before I go,and any bits and bobs can be sorted on Sunday the 29th.

Numbers will be a max of ten including me and only XT660 forum members please.

Edit...Meeting time-9.00am to be away by 9.30am (hope this is o.k.,loads to see) at the Countess Services on the A303.

Post code-SP4 7AS

The entrance to the services is fifty yards up the East bound carrage way of the A303 from the roundabout.

There is a cafe on site and the first byway is two miles away.
Cheers,
Andy.

95% sure... will be en-route back from Dorset to Derby on Monday anyway, just waiting to hear from the friends we're visiting for the weekend. Unless they've got something special planned for Monday morning I'm in!

FFS man, sort your priorities out. :D

Will be a shame not to see you. I shall have to make careful notes for future reference.

Never mind.....I'll give you a shout next time.

Tomsdad 19-08-10 09:22

Edit on first post ref start time!

I've now got all day free on the Monday,so we don't need to start so early as I won't be rushing off just after lunch time.:yahoo:

So what do you reckon....meet at 9.00am and away by 9.30am so to give those traveling/want a breakfast a bit more time.

The route will not be set on stone so if anybody want's to bail out at any time during the day,It wont be a problem.

One more little point....There will be plenty fuel stops during the day if needed,so the XTZ riders don't need to lug a full tank around.

I'll post up my contact details on Sunday the 29th and don't forget,I'll be off line from Sat 21st until late on Sat 28th.

Cheers,
Andy.

uncle ricky 19-08-10 09:31

Sounds good to me, I like to fall off with a full stomach

richardsracingmad 19-08-10 09:48

It is a couple of hours ride there, so 9 is much better!
Matt, if you want to meet around Horsham for the ride there/back pm me. I was thinking A272 or A272-A31 route.

uncle ricky 19-08-10 10:13

Andy I have emptied my PM box so try again

Rick (and anybody else who's coming from the South-West A303)....If you want to meet up a bit before and do a few lanes to the Countess Services then let me know.....
The place I had in mind was-

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X...8264&A=Y&Z=120
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X...8885&ay=138264

These lanes are not suitable for road tyres and are not on the main ride-out route.

Cheers,
Andy
