IMO them KTM guards dont look like they will offer anymore protection than TT with the spoiler on them. I agree with the vibe thing, and would prefer a nice neat fix. but i am sorry if i offend anyone here, i dont want to have my hand guards and then them bar weights sticking out, it looks horrible. I will end up putting a set of pro taper bars on eventually which should dampen the vibes.

Cheers

Jim

Sorry it's been a while Stumpy. It's dead simple, as I hope the photos below show. Washer is a sump plug crush washer off my old 1100GS!

Here is a picture of my KTM guards fitted. Looking at the pictures in the earlier post your man has done it differently. His inner brackets are between the master cylinder and the cross bar, while mine is the other way around. Your way means you dont have to trim as much off the throttle side guard to go around the brake master cylinder, a slightly better looking solution i will admit. I have found the guards a great improvment in wind protection and should work well with the Hotgrips in the winter to keep my fingers toastie.... http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l4...y/DSCN3796.jpg

Were did you get your ASV Levers from and what model bike ones fit the Tenere ?.

I have looking at the hand guards that have been fitted to the Tenere, and I would be a bit worried that if the hand guard moved up on a fall and the front brake lever was on too tight that it could possibley break the master cylinder bolt off. It looks like the hand guard is touching that hose and there is not movement.

So if I did fit that sort of hand guard I would losen my front brake lever a small amount so it would move up/down on a fall.

When I got knocked off in May my front lever banana'd rather than snapped any part Ricky. After a visit from Mr Bosch and his 4 1/2" cutting disc it stopped being a problem.

I suppose it's possible but wouldo it not be more likely that the plastic guard would break before the harder metal brake cylinder?

When I had the venoms fitted and had a crash the guards swiveled up on me and the cylinder was knocked up a bit but was not damaged. That was with aluminium bracing so something like the KTM guards should be fine.

I've also discovered Barkbusters do Tenere handguards and they do look pretty substantial, but they also supply new bar ends. So I have emailed them to ask for the weight of the bar ends they supply.

Has anybody fitted these barkbuster handguards?
