we stayed one night at a campsite east of Saint-Mere-Eglise right next to Utah beach at a place called Ravenouville-Plage. Don't camp there. However the Crisbecq Battery at Saint-Marcouf is well worth a visit. Our next two nights were here http://www.chateau-martragny.com/index.htm a nice campsite site with a decent restaurant and well located for touring the other landing beaches and other stuff. you can camp or stay B&B in the chateau. overall we found that the beaches themselves were less interesting than the other stuff, there's no shortage of things to see. |

I've done the Route Napoleon several times, it's a great road to ride, much cornering and beautiful mountain roads. If you got the time, also try the Gorges du Verdon, even more beautiful scenery and ridin'! On camping I can't help you out, but for hotels there's a lot of choice, from cheap to more expensive. Good luck and have fun!
Greetz, Hans.
