Leaking front master cylinder xt660x

Hello, I recently changed the cover on the front master cylinder for a nice shiny new one which I bought from Off The Road. I removed the old cover, checked the diaphragm for damage and ensured it sat in the cylinder correctly before screwing it back down. I came back an hour later and noticed a layer of fluid all the way around the lip of the cap and some around the screw heads. I removed the cap multiple times and re-seated it but it still kept gathering around the bottom. I replaced the diaphragm with a new one but the fluid still comes out. Anyone had experience with this before? Its driving me nuts
