Smile Hello from Antwerp ,Belgium

Hi guys/gals im a 21y old guy from belgium and new to this forum, i just recently bought a sad and forgoten xt660x from 2004 with 19000 km on the counter from some local bike store that was gonna scrap it for parts, no idea what the story is behind the bike kinda like a ghost gets even weirder since it was built on my birthday but hey 1800 and the engine on the inside is suprisingly in percfect shape its only the outside that is the heartbreaker, engine has corrosion on it half off the little tiny decorations and plastic parst are either missing/heavely scratched or broken but hey im not a newbie to what needs to be done its just i have a few questions but they seem so taboo becouse i cant find anyone doing these or atleast asking people about it but well here goes. So first the intake i used to have a allot off 50/70cc enduros and 250cc dirtbikes and i like to keep it crazy but working so i had a K&N car air filter one i cant find anymore today (came from my dads volvo 740 turbo) but the model that replaced it i think is the K&N RC3870 used in some peoples stage 3 mods so i could fit it on there right?...only problem is its slightly larger and i will have to remove the airbox in order to
Fit it now is this possible to just mount a mushroom head foam filter on there with no airbox or is that gonna be a problem and a big no no? And then well 2nd is u see it everywhere plastics are more expensive than trumps hairpiece these days but well besides the many universal enduro masks and mud/armguards is it possible i could fit maybe like yzf/wrf450 fenders on there or from other sm/enduro bikes? Havent seen this been talked about or done so maybe its unexplored territory hmmm? But well let me know what wisdoms u peeps have on these 2 Subjects and let me know. In any case i will make pictures off my progress and share it with u lads/laddies for the rest have a beautifull sunny and good day and dont forget to rip it and grip it

and to

Most important, join the XT Supporters and by doing so you will get access to special tech sections of the forum, plus you will be able to get one to one mechanical assistance from our in house expert Kev.

You've got one year and a few months before we close down so I recommend you take that advice.

Thanks for the nice welcome guys but well ive been looking at supporting the cause i just cant right now all my money is literaly going into the bike and insurance plus all other goverment scams that destroyed my dream off owning a xt660x when i was 18 but this aside is there maybe a way u can still help with these 2 issues becouse i like being original and the other thing is this bike was already heavely modified it seemed took closer look earlier becouse i have a 3 week holiday and will be needing the bike for work in at the end weeks becouse im moving house soon basicly behind my old boss’s workplace now being a welder and then having a cnc plasma and laser metal cutter at my disposal and all the aluminum and stainless steel at my fingertips i i can do most things i dont have the money for or just for there being no parts i find nice or too expensive but really atleast help me with the questions about fitting non xt660x or even yamaha plastics cus i could use this info really bad. But still thank u guys and i will support as soon as im able to and also why are u guys shutting down? ( quick small edit will use the intake forum for the filter question )

Basically the forum is shutting down for two reasons...

Not enough people are joining the forum or rejoining when their subs run out and the ongoing costs of maintaining the site/forum are not being met by the subs paid or the members clicking on the advertising banners that appear ..basically a lack of money.

Add to the fact that that our previous sponsors have all gone because the whole Yamaha XT bike range has been discontinued, so the availability of aftermarket parts has dried out. All the aftermarket people are concentrating their research on current popular models like the MT-09 / MT-10 which are selling a lot.

Finally the member's voluntary support to maintain the forum costs have also all dried out and it is now 2 years this has been run in the red.
