engine light on - no codes?
hi guys ive done copious amounts of searching on here and googling the issue to try and find out whats going on so if i have missed the tread or anyone knows where to go then let me know
i have an 2008 xtx, starts, runs and rides great...no issues there but the engine management light is on and when i go into the diag on the dash it simply comes up with no codes. and i cant work out how to turn the light off to see if it comes on again and stores a code. it has got a power command unit on it im wondering if thats the cause or im just clutching at straws?... anyone on here had a similiar issue on there bike? cheers in advance. jethro |

Only thing I can think off would be to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to reset everything.

Ok so i disconnected the battery and left it over night. Connected it up the next day, started the bike. Engine light still on so that didnt cure it...
I thought i would go back into the diag mode now thinking the guys in the garage had missed something or didn't know what they were doing... Sure enough came up on a couple of codes. d61 12, d62 r and d63 24. I didnt know what the codes meant and after looking on the sticky thread on here about the codes i still didnt feel anymore knowledgeable on them so i went back to them selected each one and flicked the stop switch on then on off on each code. d62 4 and d63 24 made the fuel pump go and then they both read 0 after that. d61 12 just cleared to 0 and hey presto no light. So all in all poor diagnosis in the first place. Thanks for your help tho nik. Cheers |

Great job! Error codes pop up because there has been an error. I think D61 is the place where error codes are stored. D61,12, I think, means error code 12 has been registered and now stored in D61. Error code 12 relates to the crank shaft position sensor and its components. Clearing 'history' does not clear the fault. If the dash light thing happens again and you see D61/12 then there is a wiring fault that needs some lurrrrving.

Cheers chalk ive taken it out a few times and so far so good. But like you said the codes get registered for a reason so im expecting that nasty orange light to pop back on at somepoint. Any ideas on the other codes i listed? Or know where i can look to find them out?

you're very welcome buddy.....The list of codes I referred to are around page 304 of the Tenere workshop manual. I think the manual is a downloadable pdf from this forum. I'm also guessing that they will correlate to the X and R too but that is a guess.
Also see this forum's page with a list of codes https://www.xt660.com/showthread.php...highlight=diag .
