Xt660za wont start

Hey guys!
Yesterday I went riding with some friends. After a short break in the woods the bike started acting up. When I turned the key it started it's bor al diagnostics routine bjt then just died. Tried it again and it started. When I got home i tutned it off and tried to start it again, same thing but now it never started again.
I'll post a video of what it does so you can see but in short:
I insert key and turn ON. The tach needle moves up and screen starts up just like always. When the needle reaxhes max it goes back down but thw screen goes black aswell and the immobilizer light starts flashing rapidly. It dors not flash in a pattern signaling an error code, it just flashes fast untill i put key to OFF.

The battery seems healthy and fully charged. I can do it 100 times and it does the same. Havemt checked the voltage but never had any signs of a bad battery. Alwats started right away.

Tried using both black keys and even the red one but it's always the same.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Adsm

The only time the immobilizer indicator should flash rapidly is when the system is in key re-registering mode. It could be the key(s) have become de-registered and/or the ECU has got stuck in key registering mode; in this mode the bike won't run. Try disconnecting the battery for an hour and see what happens when it is reconnected.

Here's something else worth a try and it won't cost you a penny:

Re-register both black keys with the ECU using the red key and see if that makes a difference. It is fairly simple to do provided you have the instructions in the service manual to hand.

If you haven't got access to the service manual, then get back to me and I'll find you the instructions, or alternatively join the 'XT660 Supporters Scheme' and get your manuals downloaded for 10GBP (see my signature for details).

I've found an old thread that covers what you need to know regarding key registering:

Hey guys!
Thanks for the tips. I tried to re-register the keys with the red one but it did not work.
Will try to unhook the battery and se what happens.
I will let you know the results!

Still not working and the shop is closed today 😥

I was thinking about checking some connections to eliminate any gaps being the reason. Cant find where the main fuse and starter relay is located, all i find is pictures of the non abs version. Can any1 post a schematic or blueprint. Never worked on the xt660 before 😯

Thanks guys

On the R fuses are located under the seat in a black box, with an independant one in a white case/box.

The electrical components on the ABS Tenere are spread all over the place in some weird and inaccessible places. Only the main circuit fuses are under the seat. All the relays and the main fuse are found either under the tank (by the battery) or behind the plastic tank side covers.

Not looking good then.

I strongly suspect from the symptoms (and from what you've tried to do) that you might have an immobiliser problem.

Check all the connections in the circuit, ignition switch and particularly the ECU multipin connector.

BTW - How old/what year is your bike?
