Engine protection
Hi...other than engine bars what are you using?...also considering forks and swingarm protection too...

I've binned my Tenere on more than one occasion, gravel, rough tracks etc. It has no extra protection other than an OTR bash plate (which has served well!).
The engine doesn't ever get any damage, the side panels on the tank take all the damage, and yes they are marked but much cheaper to replace than engine bars. Maybe I just crash well. The handle bars usually twist in the mounts (but better than breaking) which requires a bit of a reset. Pride is the hardest thing to repair.........

Indeed. Now there's an idea... Why not cover the XT in a half a ton of chequer plate!

..Ah, but their stuff isn't the real deal; it's not pukka five-bar chequer plate, just plain old ally sheet. The ADV bike accessory market still has a vacancy for excessive and pointless chequer plate sales.
