Finally made it!
Hello yet again.
Took delivery yesterday of my (new to me) 2009, Black Tenere with just over 11,900 on the clock. Swapped two bikes with Pidcocks at Long Eaton with a little cash back to me. Someone has spent a small fortune on this bike as it has the following mods: Givi engine and body bars, braided brake hoses, rear brake reservoir protector, adjustable levers (clutch and brake), GPS power take off, Puig high screen with wind deflector, SW Motec hand guards, radiator guard, lowered suspension, rear hugger, kev fuel mod and heated grips. I have today added an alloy sump guard and RAM mount. The handle bars are alloy and look new - not sure of the make but there is a small bat motif on the crossbar. Anyone recognise the bike? I had a good test drive before deciding to go for it. It had some rust on the spokes and disc bolts but everything else looked good. I checked for play in the steering and wheel bearings and gave it a good hour's blast up the A52 and back. It has a baglux tank cover but no bag - does anyone know what Bagster bag would fit? The fittings seem closer together than those on my old Beemer. I noticed some oil on the inside of the plastic sump guard which will be something to watch - could be just spillage or else a leak. Had some problem trying to turn the ignition on today....could not get the key to turn, wiggled the key and eventually got power but turned it back to off and could not get it to move again without another bout of wiggling. Eventually got fed up and rang the dealer, who suggested giving it a good douse of WD40 (I know!). Eventually I rang back and spoke to one of their mechanics who said he would look into getting a new barrel fitted. He later rang back to say he had looked on the internet (must have been on here) and suggested that I gave the lock a good squirt of contact/brake cleaner followed by drying out and then applying some graphite powder and he would phone me back after the holiday to see if it worked. Well, I have to say I was sceptical but followed the instruction - did not have any graphite powder but shaved a pencil lead and......it worked!! So this site has already proved its worth to me - thanks guys. I am going to put some puncture seal in the tubes tomorrow and take it for a long ride, if all goes well, on Monday Will post some pics when the weather improves! |
