So my first sub key (black) lasted about 70,000 miles and my second has lasted about 35,000 before they will no longer turn the ignition barrell. I'm now onto using the master key (red) which I don't like doing. I need to get some new keys quick! Question is, can I code new keys to the bike myself with a procedure or does it need to be plugged in by Yammy? I used to be a Toyota mechanic and on the old stuff the procedure was things like... opening and closing the door 6 times then leaving the ignition on for 60 seconds etc etc. I'm hoping an 09 Z is something similar (apart from the door opening bit) so I don't have to leave it with the monkeys at Yamaha and have my pants pulled down in the process.
