Bike keeps stalling?

Apols to all. (due to lack of coming on here)
Had my xt660x 2005 plate since she was one year old.
She is now getting a bit long in the tooth and I thought it's time to move on
and get a new model. (wanted to keep her but due to the stalling prob)
Last nite decided to get a new xt and leave the dealer with my prob? (just found out they aint making them anymore?)
Anyway she will stay now. Please can anyone answer this: Stalling when you open throttle fairly quick? and also, during gear change down from 5 to 4? Everyone say, put some injector cleaner etc. But I think it is more than that? My own gut feeling is take it apart and clean injectors? am I talking
********?

Is your problem 'new' or has it been a progressive thing?..
If you think its down to clogged injectors then you could run redex through it, or use a commercial spec injector cleaner.
Personally id use a good measure of redex as a starting point.
Plug and filter ok?..

Thanks for your reply.
Plug and filter is good.
Seemed to be doing it from start of season, summer just gone. Hasn't got any worse but roughly on a 100 mile journey would happen 4 or 5 times. A bit unnerving especially when in a bend?
Come the spring I'll try the redex thing (just wondered if anyone has had the injectors
out and found any obvious crud?)

Have a search on the forum as a lot of people had similar issues and if you up the Tickover to about 1300rpm to 1500rpm this can help

do you not ride the bike over winter?..do you drain the petrol off?..id empty the tank and put a heavy dose of redex/petrol in now and let it run through.
Why not?..

No harm in running some injector through. As mentioned - check the idle speed is >1400 rpm.

My gut feeling is it might be a TPS problem, especially given the vintage of your bike. Have you checked this in the dash's diagnostic mode? What is the start reading on a closed throttle and what is it at wide open throttle? Does it increase smoothly, evenly and consistently as the throttle is opened?

Have a look at these threads:

If you need walking through diagnostics let us know. In fact I'm very close to you so could quite feasibly take a look?

Thanks for all of your input. As I said earlier, I'm a bit long in the tooth now to be riding in the winter (Been there and done it when I had to) So will check out all of your comments come spring, and hopefully have a result.
Many thanks to all again. Will post again around April. Cheers
