Gear Selecter End Float

I'd just like to check that it's normal for the gear lever (operated by your foot) to be able to be moved in & out of the crankcase about 3mm?
It's not something I've ever noticed before or on other bikes.
Are all XT motors like that? Opinions welcome. Ta.

my XTR doesn't do that. I'd suggest checking the leaver is tight on the selector shaft, it can sometimes work it self loose.

Checked that & the Selecter lever is tight on the shaft, the shaft itself moves in & out.

Hi Desert Racer , I think it's normal...I was worried when I found the same thing on my XR650R...I was told it was fine, and my Ten does it also .Steve

No need to panic. 2-3mm of movement is perfectly normal. TBH, I'd be more worried if it was tight and didn't move at all.
