blown gear box
Gday from Down under
Dear readers & fellow riders. I am new to this forum but not new to bikes especially Tenere`s . I am Australian who lives in Oz and keeps one of my bikes in Ireland (Cork ). Each year I spend as much of your summer riding through Europe. Oscar, my European steed is a 2011 Tenere 660 with a bunch of great work done to it, WP front end, single disk, Wilburs shock. Willies wheels with Talon hubs. Just to name a few of the mods. I love my bike & am looking forward to ( hopefully) spending May June in Ireland & the South of France then returning in mid to late September to ride through Romania. Parking the bike at Motosapians for a rest. Sadly last year my bike stopped in Switzerland & was had to be shipped back to Ireland. My mechanic has just pulled the motor out this week & discovered the gear box looks like a grenade went off He is a Yamaha dealer & has quite a good reputation for working on bikes. However as the Tenere is not sold in Ireland he has never worked on one (except for mine). I am seeking advice in regards to a mechanic in the UK who can rebuild my gear box and possibly fit an after market piston etc .. depending on extent of damage to bottom end . The whole engine would be shipped to them possibly minus the top end as my mechanic has said he cannot find anything wrong with it and it was running when it stopped moving just making a very loud noise. Any advice and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated Kind regards Scott Douglas littlegringos@hotmail.com |
