Blackdown part 2.
I took the 4WD track on the way out.
It doesn't look much in the photo but I was faced with a bit of a gnarly rocky descent or turn back track the last hour. So I let a bit of air out the tyres & rode down. Much more successful than when I walked it first & ended up sliding down most of it on my backside. Aussie Pub but unfortunately no time to stop 200k's still to go & light is fading. 100 to go and the shadows are getting long Not having a top box, & the thought of a back pack for 700k's was less than appealing so I modified an old portable DVD player bag/box we used to have in the car for the kids before iPods were around. The off cuts of copper pipes & packets of nuts , bolts & washers you keep hold of just in case did come in handy after all. Held fast with Rok Straps so could enjoy a nice cuppa here & there. They say necessity is the mother of invention. To make things as comfy as possible I wore my cycling shorts under my trouser's & had no issues at all. Looking forward to the the next big ride!! Cheers. |
