ABS front brake sound

Hi!
The front brake on my brand new Xt660z makes a sound almost like a spring beeing tensioned when i pull the brake lever. Is this normal? Cant here anything from the back brake.
Thankful for any help!

I shouldn't worry about it. It's a brand new bike. Wait until the pads have bedded in.

My front brakes were noisy in a similar way when the bike was new. In fact I've always found drilled discs when new and fitted with fresh pads make funny noises for the first few hundred miles, whether that's on bikes or cars.

BTW - to the forum Dan!

It's not a brake pad noice this is something else. I have had several other bikes an never heard anything like this. Does the ABS make a noice even when I am not lockink the wheel? I have driven 1500km now and there is no difference in the sound

Mine (although not ABS) had a squeal from the front brakes when it was new. Turned out the right hand caliper was off centre. I took it back to the dealer & they sorted it out while I waited, 5 minute job.
Just have a look at your calipers to see if the gap on either side of the disc is the same.

Reading your OP again... Do you mean it makes this sound when the bike is stationary and you squeeze the brake, or when moving and slowing down?

The sprung bobbins holding the floating disc in place deform when the lever is pulled, which I guess could cause a sound "like a spring being tensioned", because that is effectively what is happening. Mind you, you're unlikely to notice this on the move.

Mine sounds like yours. It only sounds when braking in movement.

Dont know if it should be like that but it doesnt seem to do any harm.

But Its for sure really annoying!!!
