New Tenere goodies.

A nice package landed at work yesterday from the guys at OTR. After a little indecision on which shock to buy i stumped for the primo Ohlins unit whilst i can afford it. I cant wait to get it fitted As the sachs unit is very boucy now haha.

Kahedo high seat.(hated that hump in the original seat)
525 chain kit. Never managed to get more than 12000 miles out of a 520 chain. even with a chain oiler. So lets see if the 525 fairs any better
DNA filter
OHLINS rear shock.

I also got time to fit a bag full of touratech goodies i Picked up after spotting them in the ebay watch section

Made some decals from vinyl sheet to try to compliment the design. Yellows a little.off though.

Ill report back on the shock when its fitted and it has some mileage on it. The seat is a revelation. I can move around and its narrower without the square edges of the oem seat.

Thanks for looking.
Jon

Hi Jon, that's a nice lot of goodies for your Ten!, will be very interested in how the chain and Ohlins shock perform. Seat looks good on the bike...does it feel much taller.? Steve

Congrats!

The high seat is one of the most comfortable things (i'm "just" 1.88m) - the Oehlins brings also a lot more comfortability and the gear-shifter is much more responsive. DNA-Filter with no snorkel is a good choice
with Kev's tools mounted.

I've also buyed the frame-protectors, but on my black Z these are not so nice and in my point of view not so useful.

Have a lot of phun with your Z - as i can see it's used for what a Tnr should be also use to .

cheers and regards from Switzerland

Andy

Steve, the seat does feel a lot higher to be honest. Its also very hard. But softeneing a little.with every mile. :-) id say itnrealistically adds 2" to the seated height. Ive gone from flat both feet. To toes down both feet.

Shock is grand. Hasnt really done anything for the ride. Feels a little harsh at times but im still tweaking it. (500 miles done so far) it really has transformed the handling though. soooo stable and offroad soaks up anything. No more speed wobbles.when loaded. Its awsome.

Thanks - yes the Alps are perfect for the Tnr's (also with the old 600 one with no weight). And with the Anakee III that i've also mounted a little bit more .

enjoy it!

I can also now confirm after a 300mile bimble with the missus that the Kahedo high seat also improves pillion comfort too. :-) she said it feels wider and more suportive and is thicker so lifts her above the pillion handles.

Onky down side is the bike is like a horse to get on

Hi Jon, after doing almost 900 miles on my Tenere in 2 days (last weekend) I am seriously thinking of improving my seating for longer journeys (the one and only fault for me on this bike). I see you have gone for the Kahedo (high) which would be my choice if my head can adjust to that price. I am exactly 6ft, so not exceptionally tall, but I would probably get on some way or other. My question is, how much further in your opinion could you go on the Kahedo compared to the stock seat? I suspect that the flat top means you can move forward and back which will also help leg and knee fatigue, which with the stock seat you're stuck in one position.

Salut Jaques

I've not the Kahedo-one but a nearly similar (5 cm up and harder) but wider between my legs than the kahedo-one.
Go to your local saddler/upholsterer and you'll get your personal one - i could make a try-run for half an hour and was getting corrections on the seat before he finished it. It was cheaper and faster in use than the Kahedo would be.

And the "flat top" is just top for the travel time to move my "ass" in any distance.

Just as another hint in this case.

Tnr- and XT-Regards to France

Andy

I'm six footish and have the Touratat version of the same seat. The extra height takes a little getting used to, but nothing significant and you soon adapt to the different position.

I could manage about 100 miles, maybe an hour and half in the saddle, before aches and pains set in with the stock seat. With the Kahedo/TT version a full days riding is possible without any butt or back trouble. IMHO, well worth the investment.

FYI I got the TT seat from here. It worked out massively cheaper, even cheaper than the Kahedo one direct (and saves all the faff exchanging your seat base) what with the favourable exchange rates at the moment.
