            Sticking Rear Caliper.

             Hi Guys,
My rear caliper on the "R" keeps siezing on when left for a few days so i'm going to pull it apart and service it, i've got some new rubber boots for the sliders due to arrive shortly and the last time i was giving it a clean i couldn't see the seals popping out so i figure they are fine for now. are there any other weak points that are worth checking while i've got it apart? Also i noticed yamaha are keen tp promote it as a none servicable item but does it come apart exactely as any other rear caliper? (pump piston out, to get access to the seals?) |

I didn't take out the piston from mine when I did the same job last week. I pumped the lever to bring the piston forward enough to clean and grease it, then pushed it back. Often a fresh set of pads is necessary if the old ones have worn unevenly.
There was a recent thread which suggested these Brembo calipers are used on other bikes so parts should be available from BMW and others.

My bits for the sliders have turned up today so fingers crossed thats all i'll need for now. a guy at work has a ttr600 and the caliper looks identical to that, just trying to get round to making some measurements.

Yeah i used motoworks, very good service from them, i would recommend them, shame no one has started to machine pistons for general sale.
