XTR for green lanes.

I'm after advise on what I should be looking to do, my xt is one of those suffering from being snatchy and surging, so far cutting the groove in the throttle tube looks a good idea, maybe a DNA stage 1 or maybe keep the stock filter as they are mostly sand tracks, I'm also thinking about the kev mod. I'm looking for the best value for money mod wise. The bike is 2006/7 and so far as I can see it's fully standard.

Make sure the Cush drive rubbers are tight in the sprocket carrier.

Make sure chain is the correct tension

After this I'd go for a kev mod

then look at the DNA filter stg 2, this opens up the engine to breath a lot more but also smooths out the throttle feeling.

Cheers Max, well i've now got new cush drives on order and hopefully have those next week, i've put my order in with Kev so fingers crossed customs decide to play nicely.

I've had a busy weekend getting the cush drives done and fitting the Kev mod, i also did the throttle mod at the same time.

I did all 3 at the same so it was difficult to gauge the difference each individual mod made but the difference is brilliant.

the surging still isn't gone but is far easier to ride around, there is still fine tuning to do with the kev mod anyway but i just set it straight to the 2 o'clock position when installing.

The Cush drives i took out actually looked to be in good condition so i've kept hold of those ready to be used in future when i have some spare tubing to pack them out and do the cush mod.

The enging feels more lively just from those few changes so i'm now keen to swap the air filter and the exhaust.
