Breakdown

Fitted some new cush drive rubbers today and took the bike out for a spin.

After about 20 miles, orange warning light came on and moments later bike
cut out and coasted to a stop. Trying to restart it was apparent battery had gone
flat Tried bumping it but to no avail so called the RAC. It started with a jump lead
but within a few minutes engine warning light came on again. RAC guy put a meter
across the battery terminals and no charge. Luckily I had been reading on here about
the regulator/rectifier connection, so we pull that off for a look. Looked mouldy with a lot of green stuff on the pins. A quick squirt of some contact cleaner and suddenly a
charge was evident again at the battery and warning light stayed off. Really chuffed
that I had done some reading on here as it meant I was able to ride home as opposed
to arriving home on the back of a recovery truck.

My question is, will this connector be ok now? Or do I need to have the connector
replaced? and if so with an OEM item or something else?
Also is it possible to bump start the XT660Z? I couldn't manage it
