Original front disc

I've been looking at replacing my front disc on my XT660X, EBC mixed reviews etc. but am I missing something?
I phoned Infinity motorcycles in London and they quoted � 109 for the original part. It seems to me, that's a pretty good price for a good bit of kit.
Or do you think he's got it wrong? EBC is a good deal more and most agree its not as good as the original.

Your original disc has lasted 6 years and you were happy with its performance.

The EBC has poor(?) reviews, costs a lot more and isn't as good as the original.

Sounds like a no-brainer to me!

My good bit of kit was warped before it had done 4000 miles,is the EBC any better?? I don't think it is braking wise but it won't have to go very far to out last the original that went like a banana.

Problem with this kind of post is not knowing how the poster use's the bike in 5800 miles tyre wise I'm on my 4th front and 5th rear,the front is new just on the back is almost ******ed.

Concentrate on getting an EBC at the right price.

The idea behind a wave rotor is to stop warping...
A disc has no ends, So there is no where for it to exspand in
to as it heats up , so it warps... the cut away sections on the
out side of the wave rotor give spaces for it to exspand
into.... Basicly gives the outside of the disc where the most metal
& most exspantion happens lots of ends...
thats the idea behind them... how well it works is anyones guess..

EBC rusts easily - i have not been to happy with them

Put it on both ends on my xt600z and the rear of the xtz750

On the 750 i've now replaced all discs again. This time from http://mx-tec.eu So far done 12000km on the front and 5000km on the rear and they are very good. Think i paid ~200€ including shipping for all 3. They are not anything fancy like waves but just in a good quality and the right thickness. If i remember correctly 5mm rear and 2 4mm front

Thought the holes allowed gas and dust to escape
The waves are to cut the pad to stop it glasing
I'd go standard disc and better pads
Waves do look trick though

If I could have done I'd have fitted a Beringer(I have them on another bike) or a similar full floater but due the XT cough!! being somewhat at the cheaper end of the market nothing is available and when it is I'll buy e'm.

Have to say my experience of after market discs 'Braking' being one are nothing short of appalling I still have one hanging on the garage wall to remind me,the EBC doesn't seem any better braking wise but so long as it doesn't warp that will def put it front of the stock version.

These have over 30,000 miles of hard travelling miles on them not a wear mark to be seen they are still perfect.

Yeah, sorry. Should have put a bit more info in. I'm not a wheelie and stoppie stunt officianado, but I do ride pretty hard thru London traffic on a daily commute, year round.
My front disc still isn't warped as far as I can tell, back one is slightly ( disc lock incident ) but I hardly ever use that anyway.

I've found the original to be pretty good with EBC HH pads, but they do chew thru the metal. It's close to the 3.5mm minimum now.

The thing is, if you have a crash and the disc is below the thickness limit, they will use that against you if it goes to court. I once lost 30% of a claim because the outside edges of my dual compound tyres on an NC30 were below the limit, even though the center of the tread was fine ( spirited riding in the alps in France ) The bike cop claimed the tyre would deform sufficiently under braking to allow the contact patch and thus grip to be affected. ******** obviously, but the magistrate didn't see it that way.

Bikes done 30 odd thousand miles. I've ridden all sorts in over 25 years of biking. XTX has been the most fun to date. Love Distanzias and was in love with pro extreme rain on the front, but now no longer available.

Just remember there is no wear limit for a disc for the MOT!!!,yea I found that amazing as well!!!

Ha! Front disc now warped. It's tiny, but noticeable at low speeds.
